How popular is Boxing in the UK?

    In work last week when Scotland were playing Kazakhstan, a couple of the boys said they think of Borat when they hear Kazakhstan. I said I think of Gennady Golovkin to which both replied “who?”. A 24 year old and 33 year old who both like sports.

    Absolute garbage. Where to even start with stuff like this. I can only assume it's an intentional wind up because you cannot possibly believe this to be true.

    Yes, Borat did bigger box-office than GGG`s fights did on PPV figures.

    People in the UK know nothing about boxing, how could they? How many people watch boxing on PPV? What percentage of the country? Where else could they find out about boxers? Reading a small article in the sports pages isn`t going to make a boxer famous like AJ.

    Cus D`Amato was brilliant but that`s not the point, Tyson had the X-factor and became a global superstar because he was on free TV all around the world and made the headlines now and then.
