Tyson knows his history but he isn't a good analyst tbh.

Mike Tyson impressed me with his knowledge of boxing history but Jack Dempsey, for a man labeled as a "wild savage" of boxing, knew the ins and outs to such a degree that his book "championship fighting" should be a staple for every boxer and trainer to read

Tyson Fury surprisingly knows a lot about heavyweight history.

There's a great clip of a young Mike Tyson in the UK, where he says he was disappointed in not hearing more about Ted Kid Lewis and Owen Moran while there. It's at the end of the video of Mike Tyson presents the Heavyweights.

I'd always had Tyson pegged as a dumbo. Couldn't have been more wrong about him.

The young Tyson did have a advantage in that Cus D’Amato associates and Tyson’s future managers, Jim Jacobs and Bill Cayton owned and held the rights to the largest boxing film collection in the world and so Tyson was given access to view just about every important boxing match that was ever captured on film. For younger fans here this was way before the invention of YouTube. :)

Paulie malignaggi is definitely one of the best today. A true student of the game and can give good commentary. He does have his biases tho.

Roy Jones is particularly impressive because not only did he have an amazing career but his boxing analytical skills are way up there too. He makes good comparisons and breakdowns. You can tell he spends a lot of time not only watching fights, but engaging in other things to expand his mind like animal documentaries or warfare.

Jose Torres. He became a top-notch writer after retiring from the ring.
