Just suppose for a moment that 3G had beaten Canelo, what alternative timeline would have unfolded? in the middleweight division and here for instance. What would be the alternative history following this singularity? Would Jacobs be champion? Would Vanes have retired? Would BJ still have juiced? Would rocky still have reg belt?
One thing I'm certain of is that no one (except for Canelo himself) would be talking about any controversy and the fight result would not have been remembered as controversial (regardless if it was the first or second fight)
Just imagine if GGG would have accepted to fight Andre Ward, then would have kept his word and fought Lara and Trout at 154, then Canelo at 155 CW, then fought BJ Saunders when he had the opportunity, then rematched Jacobs to set the record straight and not duck Sergiy Derevyachenko. Whoa, what a career.
The first reasonable Herol comment about Golovkin in ages. I know that he's done this to set some troll attempt up, but I'll pretend that he's serious. If GGG had gotten the nod in the first Canelo fight, we could well be looking at Canelo vs GGG 2 anyway. The money is simply too good. I think if he'd gotten the draw in the first and the win in the second, he might back off from #3 until the MW record for defences was undisputably his. I agree with the guys that say Golovkin is about the money right now, because he's got very few fights left at the top level before he starts to lose to guys that he'd have mauled in his prime. I'd guess he might have taken a couple of soft touches, solidified the defence record and then tried to unify against Saunders for all the main belts. He'd probably have had Ryota Murata on the to-do list as well (before he lost to Brant) because Murata is a big bucks payday who is very beatable. I suspect guys like Charlo etc might still be frozen out because they are fairly high risk and very little reward.
Imagine if Ward had accepted to fight GGG at 168! Wow, that would have been cool! But he didn't. Imagine if Lara and Trout had come to 160 and fough Golovkin! Imagine if Canelo had defended his 160 belt at 160! Golovkin would have had 4 more good wins under his belt.
ok so if we start with first fight then it means Canelo gets a loss, 3G still champ with 10 defences. The no title split, so Jacobs does not get 3rd title shot, and Canelo gets return with 3G and wins? 3g continues to defend, chasing hagler. BUT I mean in alternative timeline where canelo loses 2nd fight.
yes this is what i am saying, if 3g had not got depresses after canelo, he would have fought these guys perhaps.
to be fair ward was moving out of being unified 3 times elite killer of 168 to 175 by the time 3G won a title in the ring with his first prime world class opponent, so there was no overlap, neither party is to blame. Noone would expect 3g to go to LHW (except perhaps as his swansong which I predict will happen).
so u are saying that all my pro-G posts about him smashing all these opponents are wrong. ok, your call... to shoot your own argument in the foot!
Loaded dice Ward wanted the fight at 168. With half the purse despite being the less popular fighter. With no tune-ups for GGG. With the fight in Jokeland, Donald Trump as referee, Ward's mum, dad and wife as judges and a special 'headbutts and low blows permitted' clause applicable to Ward only!!! He's not called loaded dice Ward for nothing!!! I also can't understand why some of the curious GGG trolls on this board keep going on about Austin Trout like he's some kind of career defining fight. The guy is another Kirkland Laing. A good fighter, who has one outstanding win in a good style matchup against a smaller and ageing great who, when all is said and done, will be remembered for far longer. Other than Cotto, he has lost every single time he's fought a top ten opponent. But maybe it's just me...
