I really struggle to see why they would not take on Burton ,granted he can box but if Yarde is the real deal as he is promoted as such then its a decent name on his quest no?
I have a feeling Burton is pricing himself out of a fight. There must be a reason why Matchroom can't make Burton vs Buatsi or Burton vs Johnson either.
Johnson is fighting at world level. Buatsi was mandated for the British title so obviously took that instead, now he’s on the AJ card next vs a yank. Maybe later in the year it could happen. But I’ll put it out there now I think Burton is a live dog in any domestic fight in the division, Yarde/Buatsi etc.
Eddie is even struggling to make Burton / Richards which is s basic domestic fight. I’ve said many times, that I’m pretty certain this Burton fella is Eddie is even struggling to make Burton- Richards...a basic domestic fight. I’ve said a few times, that there are clearly issues with Burton which is why he is so inactive.
It was Richards who priced himself out of the fight apparently. Burton had signed and was committed to it. I agree with Scissors, he’s a live dog in any domestic fight.
Burton and Johnson train in the same gym and are friends. They'd never fight each other, so that fight was never even mentioned.
I’ve also seen a video with Hearn suggesting the money/ issue was with Burton. I also remember seeing an interview (by kuggan I believe) with Burton and Buatsi together and the topic came up about a fight between them as Hearn had suggested it and Hosea didn’t look like he wanted to know. There is clearly an issue with Burton whichever way you look at it. I mean, how many fights has he had since the Buglioni loss..2 maybe 3 at the most and they were all against nobodies. I’ve also heard stories about him doing disappearing acts from Gallghers gym and even Warren mentioned it in a fairly recent interview.
Hearn says Burton signed it and the problem was with Richards so I don’t know what interview you’re on about? In regards to his behaviour in the gym I don’t know anything about it, you could be right and questions do always need to be asked when a fighter is inactive but at the minute you’ve seen him challenge Yarde, he’s signed a fight to fight Richards and both have avoided. He says himself he’s not a big ticket seller and he’s not got a title so it’s hard for him to get decent fights at the minute as he’s high risk low reward. I think he’s very good and will surprise a few people.
MASSIVE step up for Yarde!!! This Saturday. The only half decent fighter he has faced was the super middleweight - Nikola Sjekloca who would probably be british level if he was a Brit. Absolutely everyone else on Yardes resume is a bum or a journeyman. This is the biggest cherry picker to become mandatory I can remember. And if he's really a kitten in the camp fraud like I think he might be and he gets knocked out in 2 rounds or completely schooled and dominated easily .. Then (despite picking up a nice cheque) he and his annoying trainer will go down in british boxing history as huge laughing stocks!
We can lock down the thread now as the bum carousel has stopped, doubt Yarde takes more bums after Kovalev even if he loses
This didn't go on as long as Wilder's which is disappointing. I made a post about that guy I think in...2012 maybe? Whenever it was he fought Damon Reed, that he needed to step up his comp. It only took him 7 more years LOL
