No bro! I know you get some flack on here (and perhaps it is even deserved to a degree....sorry). But most of us know that you love boxing and are sincere on your thoughts. You are not part of the problem to any degree!!! It is the trolls that infiltrate this place for weeks at a time with no repercussions

Would it make any difference if I said it was in the top 10 and possibly even top 5, jabs of heavyweight champions ever?

I could be wrong but I thought that was the majority view among serious fans...

Pinklon was a really disappointing fighter in my eyes. I far preferred his style to Page. I just feel he lost too many fights he shouldn't have. He threw the Tysons fight away.. I was literally pissed off when he started exchanging blows with Mike so early. Sorry he's a fighter I thought had so much potential.

Ray on that night was not the Ray of 1981.. Like I told the other thread I think Ray learned with Duran that outside the ring and how you fight your fight is as important as physicality.. Not everyone can apply it like Ray since he was that great. He fought Duran's fight and he still went 15.. In the rematch he outclassed Duran. So did Benitez.

Yep, compare say Tim Witherspoon vs Frank Bruno, Kev.

I reckon that A. Some fighters are just natural stayers because of their natural physiology like the fact that some horses can run 2 mile and B. A fighter like Witherspoon always fought relaxed ( to the point of being asleep in some fights ) while the Bruno’s of the world fight tense.

Really muscular, powerful guys tend to have less stamina than the Arguellos and Sal Sanchez types.

    Cheers All.

Ali deserved the win in the last fight with Norton.

I think there are “Very Few” robberies and that most people are biased or influenced by commentary or just don’t know how to score fights in general.

I think commentary influences even the most strong willed of viewers and those who imbibe drink or drugs or even more pliable. And their reliability is comical.

Oh and I like Oscar De La Hoya, and enjoy his fights and how often he was willing great challengers. I also think he is underrated and under appreciated because of how people dislike him and Canelo.

I respectfully agree to disagree, just watch or re-watch the fights before the Duran. Leonard was incredible. That said, Leonard was admittedly pretty damn great for a looong time, both before and after.

Not an unpopular opinion with me.

I loved De La Hoya the fighter. Forget the pretty boy looks and manufactured media friendly style, he was a bad arse pure and simple. He actively sought out the best match ups and gave us some brilliant fights (Mosley 1, Quartey, Vargas,) and watching him beat the p1ss out of Ricardo Mayorga is one of lifes great pleasures.

Actually an unpopular opinion of mine is that Oscar De La Hoya is a legitimate h2h threat to any fighter at 135 pounds. He was huge, fast, skilled and had massive power at the weight that he didn't carry up with him so much at 147. In fact there are more than a few ATG Lightweights who I think he beats.

Dempsey takes out Louis inside 3 rounds.
Liston is a top 10 heavyweight.
    Marciano and Wlad are not.
Louis is the most correct puncher the heavyweight division has yet seen.
    Lamotta would have beaten Zale.
Tunney may have been the best 175pounder of all time.
Holmes has the best jab of the heavyweights.
    Dempsey was superior to Marciano.
Marciano beats Frazier because he had two handed power.
Liston and Foreman would have murdered Marciano.
Lennox Lewis is the second hardest heavyweight for the rest of them to deal with H2H.
    Ali would have dominated Marciano.
Ike Williams would have beaten Duran.
Ezzard Charles was not a great heavyweight.
Prime for prime, Johnson beats Langford.
In a trilogy Holmes may have taken a win from Ali.
Riddick Bowe had the potential to be as good as Lewis.
Holyfield is a top ten heavyweight.
James Toney could have been an ATG.
Sanchez v Pedroza would have been a 50/50 fight.
Jim Jeffries would not be successful today.
Giardello would have been a live pick against Hopkins.
    Hopkins is a bit overated.
Jim Corbett's win resume is very shallow.

This is a very cool and conceivable idea. I think the first, let's say Liston era Ali and Norton era Holmes pairing, Ali takes the decision. The second, which would be Foreman Era Ali against Ali Era Holmes...I think that would have been a battle of wits. The rope a dope would have been a bad idea against Larry, and the latter was a far sharper and more accurate puncher than most of Alis opponents. But Ali was supernaturally, wickedly great against Foreman... someone else make a call on that one please lol! The third fight could be Norton iii Era Ali and Cooney Era Holmes and yow it's hard to see Ali taking that one.
