ah i see.but still couldnt become undisputed against wlad who got wiped out by retired failed contender from bowes era.

i get u. if it involves klitschko, it becomes embued with superpowers such as HYPERSPEED Corrie or BRANIAC Byrd. If it doesnt then its a dumb guy.

Byrd was small and featherfisted. He was also avoided for a lot of his career by the big dogs. Those were two reasons he never achieved the highest pinnacles of the sport.

That he achieved as much as he did with the lack of physical tools he had is astounding. The polar opposite of Bowe.

Correct. Byrd is an intelligent and well-spoken guy.

I would personally have loved seeing hyperspeed Sanders against a guy like Bowe. It wasn't very difficult to land on Bowe and there's a reason why he avoided big punchers with size to them. Golota dropped him like a big fat bowling pin.

Regardless of who won that Bowe would have been ruined.

I find it really weird that Lennox Lewis felt the need to call up Corrie Sanders on the phone the night before he fought Wladimir and persuade him to basically go after Wlad and let his hands go. Why the **** did Lewis want Corrie to win so bad?? He wasn’t really friends with him.

Lewis knew how dangerous and quick of a southpaw fighter Sanders was and was HOPING he’d get Wlad out of contention

I agree with this assessment. Corrie's biggest problem as a fighter was always motivation. I suspect that Lewis was keen to see Wlad get a beat down and knew Sanders could do it if he was in the right frame of mind. I believe that he called him to light a fire under his ass to that end. Apparently Sanders and Lewis were under the same promoter at the time, FWIW.

I wish I could find the full post fight interview where Larry Merchant asked Sanders “I hear Lewis actually called you last night to offer some encouragement. Are you friends with Lennox to the extent that he’d call you??” Then Corrie was like... “Ehhhh well.. we know each other and have the same promoter. Lennox told me Corrie, PUT PRESSURE ON THIS GUY. GO AFTER HIM.”

By Corrie’s response, they weren’t really buddies or anything. Lol Plus I’d bet ANYTHING that Lewis didn’t bother calling up Corrie to light a fire under his ass for any other fights beside the Wlad fight :)

If that was Wladimir in there with Lewis instead of Vitali... Lewis would have been put to sleep. Too much hand speed and power. Wlad would have cracked Lewis harder than Rahman did.

I remember that bit, yes. Look, given how Sanders fought, he was always going to go after Wlad. I think that maybe Lewis tried to convince him that he could do it and succeed. There's a world of difference in going after a guy that you're not sure you can beat and going after a guy knowing that you can beat his ass even if everybody else thinks you can't.

Man, I don't know. A freak cut like the one that happened to Vitali could stop any fight. And I think Vitali was doing just fine until his face started falling off. But, what I will say, is that Wlad was a more cautious and measured boxer. Vitali went to war with Lewis giving him the opportunity to open up the cut. Wlad preferred the technical fight from the outside. You may be right.

Prime Bowe would have sliced Wlad's this lunch meat skin up. Bowe would have stopped Wlad on cuts.

how do you know he didnt ring loads of fighters?

is it just this one time you tihnk is the important one? and not in the many other calls, meetings and chats he must have made.

    completely confounding argument

hyperspeed? he was not far off 40, his handspeed was nothing special.

speed is the first thing to go....but apparently not when its to do with K bros, thats the only exception. haha!

Yes I'm sure Lennox was terrified of Wlad and breathed a huge sigh of relief when Sanders steamrolled your boy, after the fight Lennox was no doubt thinking 'That guy I just watched get destroyed by an inactive contender would have beaten me badly'.
