If Bruce Lee had trained for MMA since he was a kid could he have been a good fighter at bantam?

I watched a youtuber called TheWeasle do a vid where he discussed whether Lee could have been a good MMA fighter and he stated Lee would have been a world champ at bantamweight because of the speed he displayed in a sparring match and the massive height and reach he would have had over other bantamweights, do MMA fans agree with this notion at all?

Yeah. I assume you mean if he focused on fighting instead of acting and went after it in a legit fashion? If so, he could definitely make it to the UFC.

I don't feel confident predicting more than that because we've seen guys who had amazing martial arts credentials that were miles ahead of Lee in terms of accomplishments who wound up falling flat on their face: Roberto Traven (BJJ world champ etc), Kevin Jackson (Olympic champion wrestler).

But with his drive, athleticism, and mentality, Lee would definitely have the stuff to beat a ton of guys if he trained with the best guys.

As for the Weasle saying he would be UFC champ at 135...I don't think anyone is going to have a chance at being the bantamweight champ for a long time now that Marlon Moraes' road to the title has been clear with TJ"s ped violation. Marlon sure looks like a GOAT in the making to me. Breath-taking striking + Ricardo Almeida blackbelt. It looks like a long reign in the making to me.

It's quite laughable when people make suggestions like that when they have NEVER seen Bruce Lee fight in ANY legit fighting competition.

I can see where you`re coming from but Lee did throw really fast kicks in the sparring match TheWeasle was discussing.

I`m not sure that`s what TheWeasle meant, I think he was comparing Lee to the average bantam world champ, he stated on the vid that P4P Lee wouldn`t have a chance against elite MMA fighters and pointed out mistakes that he made during sparring that would have cost him dearly, but Lee was still light years ahead of his time, I agree with what you`re saying.

I didn't watch the video. I took your for word for it that he said Lee would be champ (see top quote).

He did, he said Lee would be bantam champ due to his height reach and speed, but you say there`s an elite fighter in that division now, theWeasle pointed out Lee was not at that level, the term champ can be a little vague at times, thanks.

The average golden gloves boxer would take Bruce Lee's lunch money......every day. He couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag.
