There's a very important caveat you and others fail to understand about the 90/10 split. It was only dependent on the fight grossing $32M , if it did Lewis would've earned around $5M. That was $2M more than what Bowe made when he was in the same situation against Holyfield.

Lewis didn't turn that down , because the fight wasn't worth 32M. It turned down the 25% mandatory challenger split , which was $3M - exactly what Bowe got for Holyfield.

Lewis would not have played hardball if he really wanted the fight. He played a game of politics with the help of Don King which would see him fight for the vacant belt against a washed up Tony Tucker for 9 MILLION Dollars.
He played the game , he knew exactly what he as doing. :polutxoso:

Rock Newman may or may not have wanted to make the fight but my impression at that time was team Lewis also did not agree with the deal put before them and were quite happy for Bowe to be stripped of WBC title so they could pick it up. Perhaps they both felt they could build it up into a bigger money fight but they both lost.

all Bowe is remembered for is throwing his title in the bin ducking Lewis, and getting beat up by Golota, that's it.

    Ohhh, really?

Cause he's not remembered at all for his performance in the first Holy fight, right?

    Idiot.

Tell me something?? Have you ever met Lennox & talked to him? Or is this all media reports ? Lennox has always been a very shy quiet guy thats why he had a tough time commentating. When someone asked Lennox who he fought for he replied " I have a British Passport so I'm British BUT I'm world champion so I gues I represent the whole world"
One final thing?? Who is better off today ?? Who made the most of his career?? Lennox or Bowe ????

Bowe is overrated as hell, his resume is total garbage. He was like the Jarrell Miller of that era, just a fat plodder.
