Check out the quality of competition, Katie Taylor has arguably fought much better fighters. Looking at the P4P list on Boxrec is eye opening.
Yes, I've actually watched most of her pro fights, and plenty of her Amateur career defining fights also. While her pro fights have been against "bigger names", most of them were absolute garbage in the ring. See her last two fights for example. So, there's not so much between them.
That would be her toughest test no doubt, but Marshall hasn't fought in a while, hopefully she can be more active and build a fight with Shields. Ideally she needs to win a title at super middle first then Shields can move up to fight her.
Yep. Good win for Shields, I thought Hammer would cause her more problems. But it wasn't a good watch. Hammer - who is clearly one of the best in their sport - was very, very one dimensional. They were both slow and messy as Hell. Respect to Shields for getting the W and chasing the names available but my word, there is little to choose from.
Agreed. And I feel like it is being forced on us. You mean Showtime couldn't have come up with a real fight for that slot? It's like women's basketball in the U.S., they just try to shove it down your throats
Clareesa Shields performed under the bright lights. 2 Olympic Gold medals and undisputed Middleweight world champion in under 10 fights tells its own story.
Lomo is way more handsome than SheeeRex but yeah she is the Women”s Lomo based on crushing top fighters so early on as a pro. If only Wilder could tit up like SheeRex
Ye but you're probably coming at this from a bisexual angle... She ticks all the boxes for u! In no way is she comparable to loma.. Women's boxing is wafer thin. It's niche.. & still basically a novelty that can barely sell out a phone booth. In terms of the skill set's on display it's mediocre at best... Fury>Wilder.
Shields put on an excellent performance. She out boxed and out fought the bigger Hammer. She boxed a lot better than a lot of men who call themselves pros. Boxing is not gender specific, if it's done right it looks the same no matter who's doing it.
I thought the fight was dreadful. Slow paced, sloppy, no drama. Mediocre skills, sub-par stamina, and no evidence of knockout power. If somehow Showtime got ratings airing this garbage (The undercards were filled with talentless fat blobs), then more power to them. I for one, will not ever bother watching another women's boxing match if Shields is the best we've got.
