Loma's top wins are Russell Jr. which I categorize as an A level win, and Linares, which I categorize as a B level win. Crawford has Postol, which is B- level, Gamboa C+, Horn C+, Beltran C, and the Namibian Flukey man was like a D+ win. Shame on that Russian for getting his head bounced off the canvas in front of his wife by that god awful Indongo.
I look at Devon Alexander and think 'Ah so this is what Evander Holyfield would of looked like if Nintendo had made a Super Mario version of him'. His proportions just look all wrong. He was also terribly boring as a fighter and got his ass handed to him by Amir ****ing Khan but he prob doesn't realise he's best remembered for that. Now he just makes dumb statements.
At his best Alexander was a B level guy with one of the best chins in recent boxing history. Who the **** walks through bombs landed by Maidana, Ortiz, etc. Randall Bailey landed a flush bread and butter right hand and Alexander didn't even blink. He walked through bomb after bomb from a prime Matthysse while weight drained, and only went down once. Grade A level chin. That being said, he is a bit harsh on Loma. I think part of the issue is that Black fighters in general resent when a White fighter gets the silver spoon treatment, hype, and special privilege without having to work for it. Loma came in with the silver spoon treatment. Some suddenly changed what was considered a professional bout just so Loma's promotion could claim he challenged for a title in his second pro fight, instead of his eighth. To be clear, Loma's first six non amateur fights were pro fights. They used Professional boxing rules, no head gear( at a time when amateurs used head gear,) 10 point must system etc. His record going into the Salido fight was 7-0 and Boxrec, and several others boxing websites listed his record as such at the time.
but its all part of promotion, when you think you have an item that will sell, you create the story around it. same reason broner still gets big fights, cause guys like devon give him that privilege. theres a thread with loma fan boys claiming loma would beat srr, so how hard you think you got to sell a story before the faithful believe it? broner aint no real 4 weight champ.
Breadman knows his stuff. One of the voices out there where even if I disagree, I respect where it's coming from. I'll give him a pass for not mentioning Monster Inoue due to the character limit, but the case is there and will get stronger. It only took his 4th division from where he started for the media here to realize what a force they have on their hands. He's already 12-0 in title fights while being 5 years younger than Bud and Loma, destroying guys in his 4th weight class who've never been dismantled like that. He KO'd the #1 fighter in two weight classes by the time he was 21 in 8 pro fights, and friggin' skipped the weight class in between the two.
Randall Bailey was packing historic-level power...for Devon to eat that shot, impressed the hell out of me. I know what you mean regarding the resentment. I don't blame those fighters for backing their guy- boxing is a tribalistic sport, after all, and nobody really expects Puerto Ricans to root against the Puerto Rican guy, or Polish fans to root against Adamek- but it looks silly when those same people then say Loma hasn't fought anyone. Like, way to throw your dude under the bus lol.
Yeah he's on point most of the time and seems pretty unbiased Inoue is godly and she beats everyone from 118 to 178lbs sans Loma and possibly David Benavidez who is a monster in his own right. This content is protected
Says the member "Oakland Billy Smith". I fully believe Ward could be HW champion the world, as long as he keeps fighting in his backyard. Ottke has nothing on him.
I mean there might be a reason to be upset if these comments didn't come out from a guy who looks like he's on the fringes of ******ation.
Was just about to say a similar thing. If Alexander were still somebody in the sport then this comment might rile me up more. But frankly I don't care. Let him say what he wants.
When has Loma ever proved anyone wrong??? He's never truly going to be the p4p fighter in the sport, unless he' cleans out 140/147 in dominant fashion, which we know is laughable because Loma isn't in that kind of fmj league of fighting anyone and everyone throughout multiple weight Classes. Loma and fmj and pac are all very comparable in size, each is a little bigger here and there while little smaller here. I'd be very comfortable putting everything I have on Mikey Garcia making him look like a D fighter by leaving him pummeled within 8/9 mostly one sided rounds. Loma has nothing to back MG off and not the chin or durability to last VS MG. Just imagine just a couple of the shots spence laid on MG he'd knocked Loma into the ****ing stands
Listen people, the answer is very simple. Blacks truly, truly hate Lomachenko (clearly the most talented fighter in the world) They could deal with GGG and Kovalev getting the hype, however much they hated it, because those two were murderous punchers. But to have a white man be far and away the slickest, speediest, most skilled fighter on the planet is just mind blowing for them. Comney, Cambell, Teofimo, perhaps Berchelt will cement his legendary status. Tank wants none.
Mikey might not win a single round. There's a reason he elected to get his ass beat like a drum by Spence rather than enter the Matrix. Stop with the 140-147 nonsense. He's never ever ever going North of Lightweight and is the best fighter alive today.
