No that was their actual size, Rockista's like you often add an inch or so to his height .Just as you say things like he was built like Tua and other similar nonsense.

If heart was all you needed Dave Allen might be heavyweight champion, and guys like Gatti and Ward would be ATG's.

An aging champion one fight after replicating the most sensational win of his career? I know I go down as a guy who says Frazier was not the same after his big win over Ali, but at least Frazier was hospitalised and nearly forced to retire from boxing doing it. Sonny didn’t break a sweat against Patterson. Yet he becomes aged?

Surviving a broken jaw against a guy 27 pounds smaller than you must be more preferable than surviving a broken jaw against a more serious threat. Against somebody well known.

Here we go again with the Williams power myth. Williams power was never a serious issue against good fighters. Never mind great fighters like Sonny Liston. At least Shavers knocked out jimmy Ellis and nearly knocked out Larry Holmes.. Williams is the biggest puncher who never knocked anyone out.

He wasn't "slightly larger," he was significantly larger, nearly 30lbs of muscle heavier and had over a foot of reach!

i'd say a street fight would suit Rocky better at this stage, he has a chance then !

Not at all, we are talking elite fighters here. Liston hasn't been in the ring with anyone that can dish out that relentless pressure along with ATG punching power.

I don't know who hit harder but the arguments for Marciano hitting harder (ie. him knocking out ranked contenders) are better argument than anything you said about Williams.

This is debatable. Louis had already scored his stunning win over Max Baer which many folks call his finest, most flawless performance. Certainly Joe was more experienced afterwards, and able to maintain his great dominance after it... but he was tearing through the division and already scoring signature wins before Schmeling wasn’t he?

yes old guy against Ali but replicating his finest sensational win just one fight before...without breaking a sweat.

Mike Tyson and Sonny Liston both rank together as perhaps the most intimidating champions of all time. Both sensational fighters. Both brooding. Both considered invincible. Both had a famous aura around them. Both lived in Las Vegas. I could go on and on. Everyone equates Tyson with Liston for many many reasons.

I didn’t say he couldn’t punch hard. I said he didn’t knock anybody out.

    Nobody anybody knows anyway.

Cleveland Williams did score a TKO over Ernie Terrell, to be fair. It was not a clean one-punch KO or anything but he must have been hitting pretty hard.
Sonny Liston was the referee, incidentally.
Terrell was still a year or two away from being a legit contender though, and went the distance with Williams the following year relatively comfortably.

Compare to Rocky Marciano, who knocked out Walcott, Layne, Louis, Charles when they were top 5 ranked.

Three rounds of ring action in 3 years at his age yes he aged and he was prime before he fought Patterson.
Yeah you have Frazier washed up at 29 when in fact he looked much the same in his second fight with Quarry as he had in their first fight, 4 years earlier and 3 years after FOTC! BS artist!
BTW The underlined is logic I would be ashamed of my Grandson's propounding!
