I get the impression that the Rocky disciples are actually trying to convince themselves more than they are the detractors.

 

This is hilarious.after the 1st round against Mathews Goldman instructed Rocky to stand still! Walcott gave Marciano
a boxing lesson until his 38 year old legs began to go and he resorted to doing what older fighter do to steal a rest ,going to the ropes. Marciano beat Layne by targeting his soft stomach,"this big farmer is made for us"Goldman to Marciano.He crowded him at the start then he used distance so he could get full leverage on his looping swings.

 

Rocky didn't balloon up, he just became a modern heavyweight.

 

Why is it you see anyone who reasonably picks Rocky in a fight has to be attacked as a “Rocky disciple”?

Maybe it’s just somebody who disagrees with you?

This never works the other way does it?

Why can’t it be that folks are making a fair judgment based on knowledge and evidence.

I think you hit the nail on the head with that thread you did a couple yrs back.

Would we see this level of biblical proportions if he was from a different ethnic background & religion.
Before anyone fires up, i am caucasian myself.

 

As an amateur an out of condition Marciano was getting beat up so he resorted to kicking his opponent in the nuts.

ie,He quit like a cur!

You can mention him in the same sentence as anyone you like,but when Rockista's start with their mythical eulogizing some of the more saner of us will always take them to task.Its called objective balance.

 

I prefer the term " Thought provoking "

 

No it proves you will deliberately foul out to escape a beating. eg Harry Wills against Sharkey,Tyson against Holyfield,Richardson against Williams.
ps The opponent Marciano fouled out against was Ted Lester.

 

A cold fact that you will not address.Just as you didnt Liston going8 rds with a broken jaw and winning a fight with a broken nose. Nor who huge punchers like Lyle , Ruddock,Foster,Morrison ko'd?
