Nobody beats everybody and certainly not everytime. But I will take my chances on a prime and focussed Lewis.
Fair but would you agree that while Lennox has the greater physical gifts on paper (tale-of-the-tape and speed) Joe has the better ratio of intangibles? Less fragile chin/psyche and every bit as much power if not slightly more..
I would say that Louis has the greater handspeed but the more fragile chin. Braddock isn't KD'ing Lewis in any universe.
I agree with Seamus, Louis had noticeably faster hands than Lewis. His tale of the tape is hard to ignore though. He wasn't just big, lots of guys are big. Louis fought and beat some. Lewis knew how to fight "big" if that makes sense, he knew how to utilize his height and reach in ways an Abe Simon never did. He's got a great shot to beat Joe, as Ali certainly does.
Even if that happened as you describe, Louis might still get better results if you matched them against the same 20 opponents. Plus if they were contemporaneous, Louis would always outlast Tyson.
Yeah, to clarify, by speed, I didn't mean their hands...shot for shot Joe has that edge. I meant that Lennox despite his considerably bulkier frame was able to move "better"...possessing not quite cruiserweight-like agility but very nimble for a man of his size, and quicker on his feet by far than our dear plodding Bomber.
