I doubt anyone on here hates Rocky (other than the one or two trolls who keep popping up and getting banned).

 

I'd definitely say in this picture, Liston looked real bad, Marciano looked downright un ring worthy. If these two Sparred right after this I'd take Liston by absolute massacre. If they fought for real I'd take Liston by Late stoppage

This is the whole thing right there. It’s not like people defending Rocky are not knowledgeable. If an ignorant racist was baiting people with no real knowledge I could understand it.

If the time arises I defend George Foreman as I have done when he was matched against Ibeabuchi. Same with Sonny Liston. If somebody out there wants to say David Tua beats Sonny I will defend the hell out of mr Charles Liston.

 

Completely agree, although I'd put Marciano and Frazier on the same level

 

Take your pick, either Williams or Patterson, both of whom for the their flaws were both Elite Punchers

 

Yeah, it seems to be Cleveland "Big Cat" Williams being deified again.

 

So you think, there are people here who hate Marciano - for reasons completely unrelated to boxing? How does this even make sense?

 

Like BlackCloud said, maybe if Marciano was a different colour he would be given some slack, thought provoking.......

Patterson scored stunning knockouts and is an underrated puncher for sure. Henry Cooper and Ingo Johansson took a long time to come round after being knocked spark out.

Williams? He hit hard, but to be an elite puncher that usually means he sparked out really good fighters as well as the bad ones. There is no film of guys even as good as Henry Cooper being knocked spark out by Williams is there?

 

Eh that's fair, I suppose I have the Tua effect with Williams. More a myth than reality

 

Discussing Marciano's limitations and thinking that he would lose to quality fighters who were much bigger than him = hating Marciano and possibly being racist against white boxers in general.
