Not really, he hasn't beat real quality imo his best opponent was an old man. He is better than Kovalev who was flawed but you were one of Kovalev's boosters comparing him favourably to past great 175pounders weren't you. My point being lets wait and see.I doubt he will get better at 31 but he might collect a couple of more significant scalps Kovalev isn't a great fighter and never looked like one ,Loma looks like he may well be one, but at the moment I put him behind Crawford p4p.If he beats a Garcia calibre opponent ,he will answer my questions.
I think Kovalev did enough to be considered a top 25 all-time talent at 175. If he won the Ward fight, which you and most people felt he did, he's there. People sure are hard with modern fighter losing a fight! Back in the old days, judging by the comments here losses are just part of the game, even for all-time greats. Now one or two losses is an elimination from of greatness. Think about that for a moment..is that fair? Losing to a younger undefeated fighter who going to the hall of fame with questionable judging??? In the end, Kovalev just didn't have the grit / could not take a body shot or low blow in his older years, but no one here felt Kovalev was on par with say GGG or Lomo. More like he was a borderline maybe all-time great. We'll see if he wins another big match ( he might make the hall of fame one day ). If he becomes champion again, by beating say Gvozdyk, what then? I tend to think he's on the decline and too spent, but who knows. In the end, he and his fans can say he was the best light heavyweight in the world for a few years and highly entertaining fighter. I've soured on him a bit. He seems to be an ugly person outside of the ring.
i dont think its too outrageous for him to be considered. We all have eyes and can see how good he is. Im not suggesting it hasnt been done before but i personally cant recall a guy making 4 guys in a row quit in world title fights. Thats serious **** right there.
Not on fight night. Wasn't he always over 175 pounds while fighting as a super middle? My point, he was a natural light heavy, who re-hydrated. Figthers tend to gain weight as they age and Ward had the right body type to move up in class.
"Loma is an atg." --"he can't compete with Danny Garcia and Shawn Porter that would be insane". Analyze.
Pacquiao was still at 130 at age 29. At age 30 he was fighting Miguel Cotto. As a drained teenager he was at 112. People forget it now but many were saying Pacquiao was insane to think he could beat old Oscar De La Hoya at 147. Pacquiao was a clear underdog, just too small they said.
I rated Jorge Linares - quality fighter - and thought he'd give Lomachenko real problems. He gave him problems sure but I didn't expect him to get stopped. That's when I thought, ''this Lomachenko guy is definitely for real".
This is bang on. I will say though that when it was announced that Oscar's on the night weight was the same, basically, as his weight at weigh in, it was absolutely apparent he would lose. That's just wrong. But you're correct to say he was seen as too small for Oscar by an awful lot of folks. That's fact.
Going into the De La Hoya fight Manny had already beaten; Solis Larios Barrera Morales Marquez Diaz And 42 others Who has Loma beat?
