Rocky just does not meet the ideals of some fans. It’s all about looks. If Rocky was 6’4” and enjoying huge physical advantages (and a scary demeanour) over each and every opponent, who beat up exclusively on smaller guys, then it would be so much easier for some guys to accept.

Rex Layne was prime.
Rolland Lastarza was prime.
Carmine Vingo was prime.
Harry Mathews was prime.
Don Cockell was prime.

Walcott was elite
Charles was elite
Moore was elite and having a career prime.

 

Yeah @mcvey is a funny guy. Of course You won’t learn anything from him, but he is certainly forever amusing.

 

Only Layne was better than Terrel

Charles was shopworn and not a HW
Moore was far from prime, regardless of what he was accomplishing.

Also the point of my post was that Marciano is an elite puncher and didn't have better competition than Mike Tyson.
Competition beat doesn't not make someone an elite puncher

 

And yet you avoid the question, Liston took on Williams and Patterson both better punchers than anyone Marciano beat and wasn't dropped or KOed. I ask again, What's your point?

 

Maybe because of the little fact that both had glass chins and couldn't take what they could dish out, both were finished in short order twice.

 

OK if competition beat doesn't make someone an elite puncher then what does? Not beating said competition like Williams?

 

Having genuine power, speed and punching ability? Ever think of that one?

 

Each and everyone of these was a total unapolgetic hype job, even Layne and his dubious victory over Charles. We only know these names because adherence to the Marciano Cult demands it.
