In comparison to other ATG HW punchers where does Rocky place amongst them for power? I'd personally put him around and Frank Bruno and Floyd Patterson for one punch power, but below people like Tyson and Tua I.e if we gave him a stat card I'd rate his power a 8.5/10
Oh no not another Marciano thread Based on feats and statements (excluding Moore's bull****) I place him in the top 5 for raw power and the 3rd best puncher at heavyweight, below Louis and Dempsey and right above Tyson P4P think I place him... Somewhere 5-8 in terms of ATG punchers. Def below Langford and Fitz The highest KO% of any heavyweight champ, quotes from Louis and Walcott calling him the hardest puncher they ever fought, Dempsey calling him a better 1 punch knockout artist than him and Louis, and many sportswriters and other lesser opponents/sparring partners. Though Marciano has 11 first round knockouts and his average KO round was 4, he has the greatest punch stamina I've ever seen. He carries all his power into the late rounds and has incredible workrate. That combined with the fact that he knows every punch, not just certain punches (hell his awkward style sometimes made up a few punches on the fly), makes him incredibly dangerous. He can think of a punch for any situation, Suzie Q, Left Hook, Gazelle Punch, Right hook, Left Uppercut, Right Uppercut, Overhand Left (yes he threw those). Possibly the most underrated left hook in the heavyweight division btw Edit: I'd recommend you read this too: https://www.b0xingscene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37168 (replace the 0 with an o)
Lewis KOed Vitali, Tyson, Morrison, Bruno, Ruddock (all of the above better than Marciano's opponents) George Foreman KO'ed Joe Frazier twice, Micheal Moorer, Lyle, Qawi, Norton and Chuvalo Sam Langford KOed Harry Wills twice, Sam Mcvey twice, Dixie Kid twice, Jeff Clark, Philadelphia Jack o Brian, Gunboat Smith, Joe Jeanette, Kid Norfolk, Tiger Flowers and Fireman Jim Flynn twice. Tyson KO'ed Holmes, Spinks, Ruddock, Berbick, Williams and Bruno twice Even Ali KOed Frazier, Liston, Moore, Foreman, Lyle,, Williams, Patterson and Folley Now whilst I don't think All of the above are harder hitters, they all KOed better opponents than Marciano
I- I'm sorry, did you just call Bruno, Morrison and Ruddock better than Walcott and Charles? Hell, did you just call them better than Layne and Moore? All three were chinny btw, especially Morrison, so I wouldn't brag about knocking them out. Marciano, on the other hand, knocked out 2 defensive geniuses in Walcott and Moore and a ring savvy, iron chinned LaStarza Btw Vitali was on cuts and Tyson was shot to hell and on cocaine
Lewis stopped Vitali on cuts, Tyson was dead of rigor mortis, Morrison, Bruno and Ruddock all had glass chins. Tyson stopped Holmes who was a pensioner with a free shot as Larry had his arm stuck in the ropes. Spinks was a timid LHW and Ruddock, Bruno and Williams had China chins.
Moore was 45, Foreman gassed, Liston looked like dives (though imo the first fight was legit, btw he tore his shoulder). Williams was coming off being SHOT IN THE ABDOMINAL. Patterson was China chinned. Frazier was stopped by his corner despite his protest. Lyle is a nice name for an older Ali When did he KO shavers? Btw you won't hear an argument from me about Langford and Foreman, those two were badass punchers
I think theres a bit of double standard, all of them were bigger threats to Lewis when Lewis beat them than any of Marciano's opponents would be. Also Moore, Louis and Walcott were all shot as well. Bruno wasn't chinny, he just was horrible under pressure
He still stopped Vitali and Tyson And when Marciano stopped Louis he was shot to ****, as was Moore and Wallcott. Charles (outside of Layne) was imo Marciano's best win and he was a shopworn LHW, as was Moore.
