Seriously if a 147 boxer is walking around at 200 but is a fat slob then it dosent make him a weight bully.
If you make weight then you make weight. Ffs we have so many weight divisions weight bullying doesn't exist. Some guys balloon up in between fights and are fat. Others are simply big for the division. If you make weight you make weight. Why do people cry so much about 10 -15lbs. Ffs I fluctuate 10-15 lbs on any given week and I'm just an average bloke. Probably **** 3lbs lol Deontay gives up 40lbs every fight and he's the bloke that's doing the chasing!!!
The more weight he has to lose to make the weight limit he’s supposed to, the more effective that would be for his body and mind.
He could have not taken the fight. Thats something that fighters CAN do. This ain't the Coliseum in Rome ,fighters can back out anytime. I feel for Gamache but he was chasing a payday and HBO blew their load broadcasting Gatti like he was fighting Mike Tyson. Good thing Floyd gave Gatti a beating ,then went on to do the same **** to Juan Marquez at 147.
how you gonna give credit to may for Marquez jumping two weight classes and this mother****er still not making weight
Because Marquez could have called it off too. He took the money and chased that payday. If you check the record that was JMM biggest purse still to this day even after 4 Pacquiao fights.
The issue isn't always walking around weight, as like mentioned could mean overweight, but actual frame. We all know boxers don't always make the weight in a legal manner, as for instance Chavez Jr was known for, which also means with prior day weigh-ins as we had for the last couple decades, that they might enter the ring with sometimes 15 to 20lbs weightdifference. Meaning that they're actually a couple weightclasses above their opponent that night because it's ring weight what actually counts. For a LMW (154) fight, if one boxer enters the ring at 162 and the other at 176, it's basically a middleweight vs a light-heavyweight +/- a couple of LBS. In earlier times a boxer couldn't rehydrate that much (besides some exceptions like McClellan), but nowadays the danger has shifted towards the opponent.
Beating up and not even dropping a shot Gatti doesnt mean ****. Come on man. DLH dropped and brutalized a prime Gatti in the first round. Gamache was a New England level fighter. The reason Gatti and Gamache and Ward got so much hype despite their lack of skills was their ethnicity. For real. Anytime two brawling Irish or Italian Americans would slug each other to death HBO would lose their mind. And think it was a fight for honor and pride and that nothing else mattered.
All these guys hide behind weight. We all know how hard it is to move up in weight. Because of the increased toughness, strength and power of bigger guys. But so many fighters have gotten so much credit for beating bigger fighters. As they should. But you have to accept the risk 9f fighting bigger guys. Gamache probably knew Gatti would be too strong. He fought him anyways. Garcia knew that Spence would be too big and strong, but he fought him anyways. Marquez knew that Mayweather was way bigger and stronger than him, but again he still fought him anyways. These guys have to accept the risks of fighting bigger guys. You're most likely going to get beatdown.
If you make weight, you make weight. That's it. If you make 154lbs and come to the ring at 176lbs.....you're leaving something on the scale without question. Your're 162lbs opponent is definitely at a weight disadvantage, but he's not leaving anything on those scales. Most of the crying you'll hear about weight bullies is from people looking for any excuse to protect their favorite fighter from an ass beating. I used to crack up when everyone was terrified of prime GGG and wanted the 5'10" "weight bully" to move up because he came to the ring at 172lbs consistently, lol!!
Ffs 10lbs is only 4.5kg if I skip a meal I could be less than 82kg, I usually walk around about 84kg I can easily be 86-87 after dinner and a litre of water. Ffs if I got on the **** I'm sure I would hit close to 90kg no problem. Maybe a little manlet who eats like a little girl couldn't hit these numbers but I know I can with ease
I never ever saw GGG jump on a scale in the ring? Don't think he ever did tbh, and am convinced the guy is like at least 180. He looks way too big to be 172 and if he's 172 Jacobs must have been 167
