Be happy with Ortiz, Kownacki, Hunter or sod it even Joyce. Not an ideal amount of time for them to prepare but it's OK I guess. How comes Hearn didn't have a replacement like when Pulev was injured? A replacement to the main for what is so far a poor card. Not ideal.
I desperately want to see Ortizn't, the Boogeyman, Baba Yaga, the dark entity stalking the Heavyweight division, well, at least according to the Wilderettes. I think it would be Karma to see another proven PED cheat (Kayode fight) get an absolute ass whooping and getting the granny battered out of him to send him into retirement (I won't say early retirement as he could very well already have his bus pass) just to get the Wilderettes to finally STFU about Ortiz and how AJ apparently has been ducking him this whole time, even though he brings absolutely NOTHING to the table. Please AJ, put the order out for Ortiz and end the hype
I would be surprised if he doesn't have a replacement, as in someone in camp for a lesser fight who could've come in at very short notice if Miller say broke his ankle on fight week, as he did with Takam, but with this news breaking some time out he may be seeking to get someone better in.
Possibly, although if I'm the dude on reserve I'm pissed if I don't get the call up. None of the options available are worse, some actually better than Miller, so I don't think it's the worst thing to happen, even with 6 weeks to go David Price waits patiently by the phone...
Takam weren’t really on standby as such though. He was due to fight in Monaco a week or two after wasn’t he? Hunter Is due to fight in Maryland the week before? So logic suggests it will be him.
That dude on reserve is going to be looked after by Eddie and he still has the fight he's ostensibly training for so nothing's really lost. I'm the other way, I'm a bit gutted. I was looking forward to this fight and I'm not really impressed by any of the feasible alternatives. Whatever the questions over his record and ability, Miller's massive size and impossibly high levels of stamina was a test for AJ I thought and none of the other guys mentioned will bring that. It would be interesting to know what direction Team AJ have gone in his prep. Has he pilled on the pounds again to try to reduce the size deficit with Miller? Could that make him vulnerable to a lighter opponent?
It's not that anyone wants to see that fight again. It's because it's Wilder's next opponent and it would be funny to watch AJ steal him just because he can...
Given one of the things that he’s reportedly taking, it’s clearly not AJ specific, as I’d guess that he’s been doing it for sometime. His solid stamina, given his size and lifestyle, was always questionable. Now we have the answer.
I think he would too. From Matchroom's perspective it depends what their priorities are - do they let Usyk build a profile at HW with a few wins first, or do they try and catch him cold before he's had time to adjust?
I guess the strangely high levels of stamina have now been explained to some degree. Interesting question RE his prep. I would have thought that may have gone a little lighter in the assumption he may run the risk of gassing less. I wonder if the replacement choice will reflect his prep direction
