Is Marciano a top 3 HW ever? And who is above him if so?

What's that question all about, I asked my pal to name me 5 HW's that beat more ATG's. Guess what, he couldn't.

He doesn't make my top ten, he did until the advent of Tyson,Lewis ,and Holyfield.
I'd say he makes the top 3 for power for under 200lbs, the other two being Dempsey and Langford.

No he isn't but nobody is presently claiming they has all these ATG heavies on their list .

imo Walcott and Charles were not ATG heavies Louis obviously was ,but that was pre war.Moore was an ATG light heavy and a good heavyweight.

Rose tinted??? At heavyweight size did and still does work both ways. Being Taller and heavier can be either an advantage or disadvantage. Marvis Frazier was around the same size as Marciano, but not as experienced, durable, or as good a puncher, but beat Bonecrusher Smith, who destroyed Bruno. Byrd also toyed with Ross Puritty, who destroyed Wlad and Byrd made Vitali quit out of frustration to the point that Vitali wouldn't even entertain a rematch, since the same thing would've happened. Orlin Norris also outboxed McCall, who easily stopped Lewis. So at the end of the day its down to styles and the individual fighter's ability to make adjustments mid-fight.

This. Moore is easily a top 20 ATG HW. People seem to forget that Moore didn't have the good fortune of having multiple alphabet titles to choose from. The only way to the heavyweight title was through Marciano and then through Patterson, who was almost 20 years younger and a very bad style match up for Moore. Also, unlike a lot of guy that came after him Moore actually earned his title shots at heavyweight by beating legit contenders.

Yep. Very under rated HW until you analyze the record and realize why he got two shots at the belt even though he was completely shot by Patterson despite continuing to fight. I could see him competing ala Byrd in any era. Get to the top but can’t quite get past the best of punchers.

Which of these were march forward power punchers who's only strategy was to overpunch and overwhelm their competition?

Marciano was a tank who threw every punch with bad intentions. The man threw hammers!!!
