Unless Vitali tears up his shoulder, he’d win here.

Why? Tucker was doing well before he hurt his hand. He lasted the distance.

Bruno has Tyson rocked and hurt.

And of course Douglas who had the confidence Burno lacked finished Tyson.

Tyson had problems with bigger fighters and I’d argue Vitali is greater than Tucker, Bruno, and Douglas.

In addition Tyson wasn’t known to finish people late.

Vitali TKO over Tyson in nine.

I'll take Klitschko. Too big, too tough, too high a workrate. Tyson needs a guy he can a) land on without looking for him b) hurt when he lands on and c) hit in combination. Vitali doesn't really fit the bill.

TKo9 and TKO6 aint beating prime Tyson......ever........in order to trouble Tyson you need a strong jab, lateral movement clinching skills, uppercuts.chin.......VK got none of that and he aint too big, he is a very skinny 6'7.........his chin /skin got tested once against Grandpa Lewis and it failed in spectacular fashion........

VK in the grand scheme of things is a non entity aka nil rating in the Heavyweight rankings.........despite having a glass chin his brother at least had some longevity while fighting absolute dismal opposition.

Answering this point by point would dignify what is probably the most obtuse post I've seen in a while. Perhaps I can go halfsies with you when your dealer calls.

Yet....somehow.....TKO 2, 9 & 10 managed to beat him one magical night in Tokyo.

Tyson for me. I think he'd be a chance of getting him out of there unless Vitali goes the negative route at some point.

I used results and logic. Want more? Tyson's uppercut would not land and he would have to get real close to land his hook with that 71" reach trying to hit the head of a 6'8" target. On the outside, he's in trouble. He swelled easy and is giving up a lot of weight, facing a man who if anything would imitate him more so than vice versa. Yes--Tyson early in his career was scared and coached out of it by D'Amato.

Tyson badly lost his legacy fights and was upset by Douglas. Also a front runner. who didn't offer as much in the later rounds?

Too bad Tyson didn't fight Tim Witherspoon. Your call there Philly would be?

We will have to agree to disagree on this match-up. I do favor Tyson over Vitali, but I also rate Vitali much higher h2h and overall than classic does in general....although it certainly pales in contrast to your evaluation.

Love Spoon, but don’t think he would beat Tyson....I would actually be surprised if Spoon could finish 12 standing up as well. I am also not a Tyson fan or supporter of any note.

Vitali is going to tie him up, stick, move and tee off on him even more than Douglas did. And prime he had the ko power.

I think Spoon could have made a good effort vs Tyson, perhaps even beaten him if he was in shape. I’d give the edge to Tyson.

The curious thing about Tyson is how he is viewed. Some watching boxing in the 1980’s remain smitten. Those born post Douglas don’t view him as highly.

Holyfield took Tyson apart with stand up skills and some movement. Vitali I think does the same. They were supposed to fight before Danny Williams screed that up. Mike looks like Vitali’s young son in the photos.

What should be a pritty isolated opinion after the Berbick massacre. At least, it would have been a much better battle due to Tyson not having to fear big one shot power, making him open up plus less holding.
I give Spoon as much chance as Biggs, Tucker, Holmes, Thomas or Tubbs. In other words: Not much.

skill-wise Vitali was on the same level of a Joe Bugner or a Tony Tucker. There's nothing he did better than those two.

Because of his toughness he might last the distance , but he does not have the skills to out box Tyson to a decision in any way.

His stiff arm punching would barely land on a defensive master like Tyson.

There are some differences between Vitaly and Marciano, though. For example 9 inches and 50 lbs.
