I have always seen Calzaghe as a sneering creep, as well as a coke-head too scared to take on any real challenge in the ring. Win or lose, Ricky Hatton, Carlf Froch and Amir Khan outdone Calzaghe by not only taking on real challenges but also travelling to the number 1 boxing destinations for them. At least these guys had the fighting guts and spirit to shoot for greatness. Calzaghe was just a fake coward slime-ball.
I got my fix for watching big-time fights, 50-50 top level fights, prime vs prime fights from Hatton, Froch and Khan so I'm cool buddy. There ain't nothing like a high level competitive fight between 2 prime top draw fighters. And currently , and in the future, i'll get this same fix from Josh Taylor, Josh Warrington, Josh Kelly, Joshua Buatsi, Callum Smith, Anthony Joshua and many more. What is funny to me is, if Anthony Yarde actually goes to Russia and faces Kovalev, win or lose, he has actually done something Calzaghe never had the guts or the balls to do. Yarde will have outdone Calzaghe in aiming for glory.
Khan lol! What 50/50 fights did Khan ever take. He's been the huge favourite in every fight he's ever had apart from the Alavrez and Crawfird cash outs. All the other losses were cherry picks gone wrong that he was a huge favourite in! Calzaghe is a ATG, hall of famer, undefeated long reigning undisputed champion who defeated Kessler, Hopkins, Eubank and so on. He'll go down as a great, he had ability and a career Khan could only dream of. Calzaghe will be remember as a great fighter, Khan is known as a laughing stock with a glass jaw, enjoy his latest KO defeat this weekend
What, u mean this Kovalev:? Add in two recent KO losses, numerous trainers & out of ring issues & you're not really selling it too well bro LOL 'If Yarde'
Calzaghe fought Jones and Hopkins in America. Fought Eubank and Reid in their home countries too as the away fighter. It's not like Calzaghe did a Sven Ottke.
What a load of ****, Lacy was a heavy favorite, 90% of the boxing community were picking him to win. Kessler was 39-0 when he beat him, in his prime and was a great fight. Hopkins was the Ring Champion at 175lbs. Eubank, Robin Reid were good wins at the time to. Yes he was milked from Frank Warren but to say he never had a real challenge is a joke.
Totally. Don't forget also that Mitchell's record leading up to Calzaghe was pretty good too.. He'd just got badly jobbed in Germany v Otke & had beaten the likes of Liles, Green, Girard, Siaca etc too.. Two time WBA & lineal champion. Good win. I'd say it's better than the Lacy one in fact.. Throw in Bika, Brewer, Woodhall etc.. Far from scrubs! All combined, very respectable.
Froch was the same division as calzaghe so do explain how Froch outdid Calzaghe and how froch was taking on real challenges compared to Calzaghe? This will be good. cant wait to read this answer
Ignorance at it's highest or lowest levels, not sure which way it really is.. Joe C was the BEST in both divisions he competed in and I think he was making a **** ton of money at home. The challengers should have to travel, that's IMHO
