Terrible attitude towards paying fans tho imo. Thought it was poor from khan last night tbh. His careers slowly becoming a comedy act with each passing year. He still looks like an amateur fighter after years of pro training. i d hate to see khan or any boxer hurt....but basically quitting before even being interested in taking the five minutes is poor for the paying punter. He was getting beat up a bit in there but don't make the fight in the first place if you can't hang with it. Stop wasting peoples time and money. Advisors should be telling him his level for his own wellbeing.

He needs to retire should have after the Garcia fight for his own good tbh. He's a danger in a boxing ring at that level. These trainers still need to give him second by second instructions. We,ve seen Virgil needing to keep him focused at the side of the ring constantly. No one that needs that should be in a boxing ring with top tier guys. Maidana/Garcia/canelo/Crawford. They,ve all hurt him badly. He's beat maidana but at what cost further down the line. Was battered brutally at times in that fight. He shouldn't have even been in the ring with any of them. The guys got too many shortcomings in his game to not get badly bashed up at that level.

Not a dig at khan...who,s hgave it his best. But its time to give it up.

That's ridiculous. A Fighter shouldn't have to tell his corner that he needs 5 minutes after being hit low. THOSE ARE THE RULES. As a trainer, you know full well what's supposed to happen when somebody gets hit low. You're supposed to be given 5 minutes. Even if a fighter is in pain, there's no need to stop the fight within the 5 minutes. That's what the 5 minutes are there for, to give the fighter time to recover. If the fighter is in pain, they let the 5 minutes expire, then if he's still hurt the fight gets stopped automatically. It's not a time where a trainer needs to stop the fight. It's not like during a fight when a guy is getting beaten down. The 5 minutes serve a purpose and it's a fundamental lack of understanding of the purpose of the 5 minutes rule if you believe that Virgil should have stopped it there after asking Khan if he was OK after like a minute. Bottom line, Virgil was way too overprotective of Khan to decide to stop the fight without allowing the full 5 minutes to elapse. He jumped the gun pure and simple.

The ref was putting pressure on Khan to fight right away twice.He didnt give Khan the 5 minute option.Khan new he needed more time and the ref acted like it wasnt a option.

I've not necessarily an issue with quitting if he feels he just has no chance, but t's Khan's dishonesty which making him look really bad. He's embarrassing himself frankly.

I believe this was ESPN's first EVER PPV. So yes like Teddy said this is just a bad look for ESPN.
If this fight was on the undercard on a non-PPV I'd have less issues with it but to quit on PPV main event is ridiculous.

Yeah but Khan or his trainer could’ve easily told the ref they needed the mandatory 5 minutes. All his trainer asked a Khan was if can continue or not. Not very confident to me...

He quit, but it was apparent that Khan had zero chance of winning at that point and a high risk of serious injury.

He was hit low. You can't call someone a quitter who was hurt from an illegal shot and was not given the standard 5 minutes to recover.
