He was hit low, but unless he is an anatomical marvel, he wasn't hit in the balls - the replay shows the punch hitting the top of the right thigh. He could have taken the 5 minutes to recover but chose not to. Virgil Hunter said he asked Amir if he wanted to continue and he said no - he could have asked for time to recover and reconsider.

An anatomical marvel ? There are other areas besides getting hit directly in the balls that can debilitate you from being hit low. Also you need to factor in that Khan was moving forward towards Bud as the punch landed, which increased the impact and damage. It seemed to me that he got hit in the lower abdominal area, as he was moving forward, Bud really loaded up with that shot so the power on the shot combined with Khan moving forward into the punch, that was a damaging blow.

    He stopped fighting.

Did he stop because of the low blow??

    Yes.

Did he stop because of the low blow AND the fact that Bud was clearly winning the fight prior to the low blow??

I wouldn’t be surprised if that also had a little to do with why he stopped fighting.

Regardless, i would watch a rematch but I would expect the same or worse for Khan.

If he was hit on the balls he would have gone down writhing and struggling to breath like most low blows i've seen in boxing.

I have seen worst than that and boxers still continue to fight. It was low but on the thigh.

What happened is Khan knew the end was nay and wanted to take the way out. I don't blame the man for that decision at all.

Besides he was way behind on the cards. That it wouldn't have mattered. I doubt he comes back miraculously and win.

So your argument is that Khan was just completely faking being hurt by that low blow ? Is that what you're saying ? He wasn't hurt at all by the low blow but because he was down on the cards he decided to fake being hurt because he all of a sudden realized he had no chance the moment he got hit low ?

Do you or do you not believe that Khan was faking being hurt by that low blow ? That's what you seem to be saying . You need to take into account how hard the impact was, Bud loaded up on that shot and Khan was moving towards him at impact. It didn't appear to hit him in the balls, but he clearly appeared to be genuinely hurt from it.

The hit was indeed low but neither Khan nor his trainer asked for time to recover , rather he stopped immediately (yes the ref should have been much clearer that he should take the 5 minutes first before deciding not to carry on). He saw a way out and took it.

Again it's not a fighter's job to "ask for time to recover". It's in the rules. It's the ref's job to inform the fighter that he has 5 minutes after a low blow. Khan didn't decide to take a way out, when you're hit low you are in pain, you can't think straight. You need to take a couple of minutes and walk it off before you can think straight again. For the ref or for Virgil to press him and ask him repeatedly if he was OK urging him to re-start the fight was not correct procedure. Khan was obviously not OK as he was clearly hurt by that shot. He needed the 5 minutes to see if he was able to recover and continue. He never got that time because his corner (Virgil Hunter) decided to stop the fight after only about a minute of the 5 minutes that he had to recover. You can't put that decision on Khan because Khan didn't make the decision. All he said was he was not OK and indicated he was hurt by the shot. Admitting that you are hurt by a low blow isn't equivalent to "quitting" or telling your corner to stop the fight as he's being accused of.

    As and when it suits
    Khan pulled a Judah
    Or Khan cheated Judah

Not when it suits. Khan hit Judah squarely on the belt-line. Shots on the belt-line are not considered low. It was not ruled a low blow and Judah was counted out.

Bud hit Khan clearly well below the belt-line. It was ruled a low blow and when that happens you receive 5 minutes to recover.

You do realise that khan knew he had 5mins but felt it was not worth taking them. Listen to him clearly say it himself before realising he trapped himself when interviewer asks why did he not take the 5mins
