Whyte signs with Arum

No it hasn’t. Whyte became an automatic PPV fighter when he was on PPV to fight Parker and Chisora. It’s the dumb ass casuals who buy these fights that has got us PPV. That and pure greed from the parties who stand to benefit from it financially.

Once Whyte was offered big money to go and fight on US networks what’s the alternative? Fight for a few hundred k on a Saturday night fight show? He’s obviously not going to. He’s had to be promised some PPV pie to keep him in the UK.

He's still with Matchroom as far a I can tell.

 

But who’s fault is that. Who gave him the idea that he is worth so much money? Hearn did by putting him on PPV originally and in a meaningless rematch with Chisora, which people on here justified.

Those are the PPVs that inflated his value in his eyes and that’s the key driver for his talks with the other networks and him being on PPV against Rivas.

It’s not hard to understand. The talks with the other networks are a factor but not the main cause.

The main cause is the unadulterated greed of Hearn, Whyte and the fact that people buy his PPVs.

 

Whyte was already PPV as far as Matchroom are concerned.
Talking to Arum had nothing to do with it. Prior to that, Whyte had been pencilled in to face "Breazeale, Ortiz or Povetkin" on a Matchroom/SKY PPV, as soon as he rejected the Joshua fight.
Hearn has never even suggested downgrading him to a regular Saturday night fight show.

 

Lol this. He hasn’t suddenly been put on PPV for the first time now after the Arum talks. Hearn put his pudding ass on PPV long before that. It’s Hearn’s doing not ****ing Arum.

That was obviously the case after the Whyte-Parker fight when Whyte-Chisora was being made as a PPV. Two in a row isn't a "one off".
Whyte wins that one. Then, even after Whyte rejects his big chance against AJ, Hearn carries on talking about Whyte's next fight being PPV.
How can it have anything to do with Arum etc. ?
If Matchroom/SKY are already planning to put him in his third PPV straight before he went for talks with US promoters, how can it be down to Whyte's talking with them ?

I don't think Whyte forced Hearn's hand at all.
The truth is probably he didn't get the Fury-level deal he was hoping for from Arum, so came back to Hearn for Hearn's planned PPV.

Anyway, let's see how many buy this one. Whyte-Rivas doesn't seem like an easy sell at all.

 

Hearn said originally that Chisora v Whyte rematch was never a PPV. Then after the Whyte Parker PPV, both fighters insisted on purses that meant that the rematch could only happen on PPV.

I can’t be arsed discussing this further but if you can’t see that the first Whyte PPV has caused Whyte to be a PPV fighter then I don’t know what else to say.

 

Some time ago both Whyte and Hearn said that he'd continue to fight on Matchroom cards in the UK, whilst there was the possibility he'd fight on other networks in the US.

Basically, DAZN don't need multiple British heavyweights. They didn't pick up Whyte's last fight despite expectations. So he went looking to ascertain his value in the US market. That doesn't mean he'll burn his bridges with Hearn and Sky however, who also need him as one of the few credible PPV draws left to them.

 

Getting bored of this PPV nonsense. If he gets the buys on PPV and the fight makes more money on PPV then it makes sense to be PPV regardless of your opinion that it should be Saturday Fight Night instead...

He’s paid a lot because he generates revenue, simple. Just because Bob Fella on an Internet forum disagrees it doesn’t mean he’s not PPV.

Now can we move on?

Personally think this is an alright fight, wouldn’t buy it myself though...
