Goldman taught Dundee, and Dundee himself quoted Goldman as the greatest trainer ever

Arcel and Dundee are def up there, and I'd have Cus just above Steward. Teddy Atlas and Jack Blackburn?

Foreman is as bad a stylistic and physical matchup for Marciano as I can think of.

If I had to gameplan for Marciano I'd have him fight Foreman mashed up against him to rob him of his leverage, and try to turn it into a mauling type of fight, hoping that Foreman blows his wad and is ripe for the picking later on.

    • This is definitely In my top five fights I’d like to see. Stylistically it seems a nightmare like with Tyson for Marciano. One thing Marciano has going for him is stamina (both cases). With Foreman he has a stylistic edge over Frazier. He would make Foreman have to commit more with his crouch style. I think he was stronger then Frazier so I don’t see him getting pushed out of range like Frazier. That being said I think he losses most nights. But it’s a fight If we had a time machine would be on my list. Would truly test how good was Marciano’s chin? Power?

Marciano was perfect for Foreman. Rocky was a great fighter possibly even greater than George. It's just...Frazier and Norton were great too. Foreman in two.

Marciano stops prime Foreman in the later rounds, since Foreman didn’t pace himself well and was very predictable. Foreman from the late 80’s to early 90’s in my opinion has a much better chance at beating Marciano, since he was a lot more patient and more dangerous.

Also, people keep comparing Frazier to Marciano, but aside from both having a lot of heart they fought nothing alike. That aside Frazier showed up as a fat slob in both Foreman fights.

Sorry to say,but I don't see Rocky being able to do ANYTHING whatsoever to win here .Doesn't matter how he plays it ,Foreman's going to get him good .Rocky's chin, while solid ,isn't standing up to prime Foreman .
    I'll say Foreman wrsc 3 .

I dont think it is impossible to make a case for any great fighter over another.

Prime for prime the size difference is in line with Rocky against an old Joe Louis.

If Rocky can survive the early fury George will get tired and frustrated.

The Ted Gullick fight, a fight George won, really showed a lot of opportunities for a better right hand puncher of a similar size. I think Rocky would have floored George on this evidence alone. No wonder George was decked by Ron Lyle.

Frazier was a sitting duck to George. Marciano never would have been.

The stance of Frazier was completely different. I dont understand because this was an easy fight for George every other guy of that dimension would be too. If that were true, How come Scrap iron Johnson and Qawi were not dismissed so easily? Surly it is poppycock to insist Marciano does no better on that basis.

You don't have to be Einstein to see this does not bode well for Rocky. Maybe even the worst matchup one could throw at him.

I cant see him doing anything TBH. Adleast Frazier had quickness of feet hands and head movement Rocky has none of these. Hes much more stationary. No significant head movement. I think he gets bombed out in no time. Just cant see it any other way.

I dont know how you can be so certain.

Lots of people must have thought things "wouldn't bode well" for Jummy Young and Muhammad Ali against George Foreman. Both guys beat GF and decked him with right hands.

Sure those guys were a different style to Rocky. So what.

Unless you can explain how Rocky cant land a punch on georges chin it is unreasonable to say "you dont have to be einstein to see things wont bode well for Rocky."

If Rocky can hit him he has a chance. If Grorge gets tired Rocky has a better chance.

It just seemed that fighters like Rocky, Dempsey, Tyson, Frazier, Norton....they were all fighters that kept coming in. That's what George wanted, because he landed more cleanly that way.

Foreman landing cleanly, regularly, is the end for heavyweights of the aforementioned style. It made things too easy for George.
