Hi fellas, I had a lotta time for Hamsho. He was a classic example of a bloke making the absolute most of the abilities he had. He was always in superb condition, nearly all his fights were entertaining and he had a chin like a block of concrete. I watched the rematch with Hagler live on Oz free to air tv n I couldnt believe the beating Hamsho took before Hagler finally decked him and finished him. He never looked right to me after that fight n it was a shame to see him finish up in Germany as a mismatched opponent for Rocky Rocchigiani. The size differnce in that fight reminded me of Hearns vs Duran.

    Cheers All.

Beat up Wilfred Benitez in a fight that should not have been made.

He was fairly dirty from memory and the kind of guy who would give anyone a hard fight. Hagler handled him but Marvin would have finished the fight knowing he had been in one of his toughest battles.

    Solid middleweight.

Pretty good fighter for a minute, but would have loved to see how he would have done against Dwight Davidson, Frank Fletcher, and Tony Ayala Jr.

Hamsho was a top contender a tough MF'r a real street fighter and could have been possibly a world champion at some point but sooner or later he would have been beaten at his own game by a skilled powerful Sibson maybe or outmuscled and brawled by Roldan or Mugabi.....I wish he had fought Frank Fletcher.

Hamsho was a rough and tough professional fighter period and was always going to beat up on the skilled clean fighters like Czyz and the other pedigreed fighters.....he did everything different than what an amateur would have been accustomed to fighting.

I paid retail and read it. If memory serves, the rough stuff came into favor after the Norfolk fight that ruined his eye and depth perception. But then I've been punched a lot by both fist and bottle so maybe it's all a bit foggy.

he was a very unlikeable guy! Someone mentioned Dwight Davison, very fine boxer, I really liked him
