I hope you’re right for a few reasons.

    1. It’s a decent fight.
    2. Should dispell the “boogeyman” myth.
    3. Takes a potential opponent away from Wilder, pushing undisputed closer.
    4. Clears Whytes path to WBC mando, pushing undisputed closer.

But also at the same time I think the above reasons are probably why it won’t be Ortiz unfortunately.

    Here’s hoping though.

Well in this instance I did not bring him up, you can address Wifly who is the culprit here and I merely responded in kind.

As for 80 per cent of my comments being about Whyte, yeah maybe they are, maybe they aren't.... it would be weird if I was talking about him on an AirFix modelling Forum... but here I am in the right place boxingforum24.

I see nothing weird here, I am just being a fan.

From one American blob to another. At least Ruiz has some genuine skill and fast hands. But imho he's basically a poor equivalent of Povetkin - short, strong, fast hands - but doesn't have Pov's accuracy or movement. He would move better if he lost that massive belly - but that aint happening.

Comfortable win for Joshua in mid rounds.

It's guesswork on my part and you may well be right, but I submit the following evidence for the prosecution...

Hearn and Adam Smith both talked up the fight.

Johnny Nelson talked up the risk of taking on Ortiz at short notice without a full camp to prepare for him.

So, a narrative emerges of AJ pursuing the best, highest risk alternative. Meanwhile beforehand Hearn gets maximum publicity for Matchroom USA's new US signing.

    Could well be wrong though!

I think everyone wants Ortiz other than Wilder fans and perhaps Ortiz himself.

Sounds plausible! Sky would surely have the inside track on any developments as well.

    Hmmm.... interesting.

Hearn has narrowed down the list of potential opponents down to six, with a final selection to be announced within 48-72 hours:

    Andy Ruiz Jr
    Luis Ortiz
    Michael Hunter
    Manuel Charr
    Trevor Bryan
    Agit Kabayel

The bottom three are horrible choices.

    Hunter decent but unknown.

Ruiz fat unlnown featherfist and then Ortiz who is a solid sub but will be no doubt shat on by the same people that said Joshua was ducking him

I'd be happy with any of them except Bryan and Charr.

Fair play, I'd only find the top three on the list even remotely entertaining.

The only happiness we can hope to achieve from this is watching the Hunter hypetrain derail into oblivion or shutting the Ortiz argument down for good,

I have a headache from these idiots hypers.

    Ideally I'd love Ortiz.

Given the probable options I'd much rather Hunter than Ruiz, and I don't get the hype with Hunter at all. Ruiz would be a disappointing replacement and a physical mismatch.

Kabayel would be a good op, but the trouble is he isn't American and no one knows who he is.

    Charr and Bryan, no thanks.

Solid post , I agree I think Hunter is the most likely that can actually be signed . PBC fighters are off the table marching orders from Haymon were sent to them so that is Ruiz , Ortiz and Kownacki off . Charr has not fulfilled VADA requirements for the fight which MSG specifically stated for this bout so Charr is beyond any reasonable doubt off the table , Kabayel is another potential UK or European fight to be made not US .

Ruiz wouldn't even be a hw if he got into shape.
