He lost the second fight by the rules. Yes he did lose. That is how boxing works. You cannot make your own rules.

That law degree thing is a bit of an insult on people who work hard to go to law school and become real lawyers.

I'd have loved to see them actually trade,
Both are very good body punchers and have good, borderline great, power, both are quick and both took eachother's shots. Not just exchange jabs and cower away from eachother when the other one flinches

I would say so , yeah. Almost everybody agrees Canelo comfortably wins the third fight became of how better he did in the rematch.

There's really no way GG won the rematch clear , that just didn't happen. It was a close fight which GG should have fought more aggressively than he did in the first to secure a clear win.. That didn't happen.

He knew the judges were against him going in , so to fight the way he did means he assessed the risk Canelo brought on the front foot so changed his style to protect himself. That choice reduced his offensive measure for too many rounds which let Canelo build up a lead.

His gameplan was essentially altered by Canelo's gameplan. Thats what making adjustments is all about . Canelo made all the adjustments from the first fight , GG made none. He regressed from the first fight and fought in a way nobody would have recommenced him to do so going in.
Most his fans fully expected him to throw down the gauntlet and attack Canelo in the manner he did against all the other guys he fought.
That's what he was meant to do , he didn't do it because he couldn't.
The more he opened up with hooks , the more Canelo would have countered him to head and body. He avoided giving Canelo those openings and paid the price, its really as simple as that!

Canelo rolled the dice by tuning up the aggression , he took all the risk to land the the majority of clean and hard punches. He made the adjustments , he dictated the pace and style in which GG fought. He bullied the bully and brought home the win he deserved. :polutxoso:

Let me address a couple of points....

    1. Canelo didn't try to rob Floyd. Floyd, even more than canelo, would have the judges favour him. Al Haymon is much more powerful than Oscar. That one crazy scorecard was to help Canelo's marketability going forward. You know, "he only lost a MD to Floyd as a green 23yr old". They were never gonna rob Floyd of the victory.

    2. People are talking about Byrd being used for the Jacobs fight. It doesn't matter what judge it is, they are all corrupt. It was just Adelaide's turn that night to be the villain. It honestly doesn't make a difference who is judging and where they are from. Maybe next time Byrd's role will be to score a realistic card, while the judge next to her has the corrupt role.

I thought he won it but that one could have reasonably been considered a draw, whereas the first was daylight robbery.

The second fight was way clearer than the first. Ggg outboxed canelo with a masterclass performance. Only canelo fanboys are trying to tell you canelo forced to fight on the back foot and hold the center of the ring. In reality ggg did what canelo wanted to do in the first fight but ggg executed perfectly. Ggg showed his ring in and his greatness in both fights. In the first ggg pressured canelo and outfought him in the second fight ggg gave canelo a boxing lesson on backfoot counter punching and technical boxing.
Plus still canelo is a hell of a fighter and we are happy to have 3 absolute elite A+ fighters in ggg, canelo and Jacob's and the even fight each other

While to my eyes it looked like Canelo easily won the second fight. I can also see why people think GGG won. Its fanboy'ism and hating like a motha****a.

How can you say he got worked the 2nd fight? He landed 100 more punches than Canelo.

^ Proof that Dino has watched Golovkin fight Brook and nobody else

In actual fact Golovkin fought Canelo exactly in his preferred style; the same style he has used for most of his career.

But then, nobody expects much from a boxing noob like Dino

Exactly this and it just shows how many people simply don't want to see what is right in front of their eyes. Golovkin relishes in playing the role of the counterpuncher and he does it with great efficiency.

    Erm , thats not true.

GG only landed 32 more than Canelo in the total punch category , but then he threw a lot more than Canelo did. Canelo threw 200 less punches which means he landed with a higher connect percentage , meaning he was the more accurate puncher.

    Canelo connect % = 35.5%
    GGs connect % = 26.6%

On top of that , Canelo outlanded GG on power punches and again landed with the higher connect percentage. Power punches are cleanly landed and effective shots , they capture the judges eye over grazing ineffective half connected shots , which GG was landing.

The stats also show that Canelo made GG miss a whopping 600 punches. So Canelo was more defensively sound and was the cleaner and more accurate puncher. This is how you win fights on the judges scorecard.

GG tried to outbox the boxer and lost. His tactics were all wrong. Yes , he won rounds , but that had a lot to do with Canelo coasting to conserve energy. When Canelo's workrate dropped , thats when GG found success.
When Canelo switched it on , he outclassed GG in every aspect of boxing.

A smarter tactician would have targeted Canelo's body as everybody knows he doesn't have top level stamina and endurance. GG folded guys up in the past with body shots , body shots thrown at Canelo? Zero.
He wouldn't risk it and paid the price. You could say GG lost it as much as Canelo won it!

as a neutral, ggg won a close first fight but canelo easily won the 2nd
