I think I was one of the few who took Donaire at +400 odds against Burnett and got really lucky. Donaire was clearly losing the fight but a miracle happened and Ryan Burnett couldn't continue.

I'm seeing similar odds for this upcoming fight and I was thinking about trying my luck again. I don't know anything about Tete so you guys are going to have to educate me about him but is it worth giving a shot? What do you guys think?

You obviously didn't watch the fight as Nonito was sticking on Burnett at the time of the stoppage and more than holding his own. It was a competitive fight and shaping up nicely. Shame it was stopped early.

At bantamweight? Against a smaller guy? I'd say he has a fairly decent chance.

He's taller. Do you think he walks around heavier than Nonito? I sure don't.
And if I had never seen him, I would've just kept scrolling and not commented.

That Burnett stoppage was one of the most disappointing things to happen in boxing since Abraham/Direll in the Super Six. Just so unsatifying, and as fans we'll never know how it may have played out.

Not sure I’d describe Tete as ‘smaller’ that’s all.

I get what you're saying. I think against the other bantams, yeah he's a giant. Nonito is a fat chubby guy, he's always been thick around the waist. Nonito was like how Baldomir was giant at WW, not much taller than the others but you just know he had to shed tons to make weight.

Donaire is the naturally bigger guy, size is more than just reach and height, but also frame and Donaire is a thick guy, Tete is all wiry.

Why is Donaire such a big underdog?

Donaire is 36, which is ancient at the lower weights. Plus he is coming off some losses against guys like Frampton and Magdaleno. I think the betting markets are overreacting though, his losses have come against naturally bigger fighters than Tete. I will say that I still have to question Donaire's stamina if it goes into the later rounds, as it wasn't tested against Burnett. But I will be putting money on Donaire by KO and predict him to win by KO in the prediction league. Tete is overrated IMO, Donaire has beaten plenty of fighters better than him. And his power is still legit at the lower weights (hell I think he stunned Walters, who is a good-sized Lightweight).

Not only does he have a chance, but he should be considered the favorite.
