I just read steve bunce"s article in the independent newspaper today He states crawfords low blow was "out of his bag of tricks " and designed to "slow his opponent down ". Wasnt khan already slowed down enough? Evidently not...according to bunce it was a deliberate cynical low blow . Bunce also quotes khan as saying he was just finding his rhythm and timing crawford. Now this can not be denied....khan is 1 of the bravest fighters of the last 50 years....in a sport where every fighter is brave by definition. Khan had taken a pounding ...but though his legs were scrambled..... his face uncharacteristically resembling a smacked bottom...khan had indeed started to land sharp counters at the end of the 5th.... Now im strictly playing devils advocate here...they arent my beleifs....but why would crawford need..... to quote bunce..... "go to his old bag of tricks" and land a deliberate and obscene golota esque low blow?.... Could it be his unchallenged career has made him into one of those front runners who cant handle dissent and a beaten fighter punching back so truculently? Especially one like khan with a history of coming off the canvas to win? We saw it with tyson late in his career v williams and mcbride.....tyson the front runner battered both nearly to death... than collapsed upon dissent. Is crawford another don curry who was never the same when he tasted dissent for the first time v honeyghan? Was this gonna be another hearns v barkley 1?....the superior fighter massacring a foe but unable to finish...suddenly getting hit Was this mclellan v benn...was khan getting his second wind? Was khan with his timing and bravery,suddenly landing clean shots causing crawford to panic inside.....was his stomach turning at the thought of the fast,brave,talented khan the same khan who outboxed canelo in sharp spurts at times...suddenly waking up and boxing well?..after all crawford had him on ***** street in round 1...Amir had overcome it.....Terry couldnt stop him. In short was this a golota like stunt? Only time will tell...once a bit of dog shows in a mans work in the ring...it usually re-emerges... Duran pulled a no mas ten years after his first. Food for thought for you. Personally i think bunces assertion it was a deliberate low blow is nonsense. I personally feel khan couldnt continue.i feel crawford was comfortably on his way to.handing khan a prolonged beatdown

I think it was deliberate also.... I think he was trying to slow the feet down of Khan to force him to stay in the pocket a second too long. Crawford is accurate when he throws ... it wasnt the worst low blow in the world but it was defo a bad one. #I think Khan/Hunter realised that after 6 rounds if Khan didnt have a lead on the the scorecards it was almost impossible to win the 2nd half of the fight
Wouldn’t surprise me in the least if it was deliberate, too, for the reasons you state, mate. I’ve just noticed a narrative from a small minority who are making out that it was a deliberate attempt to get him out of there cos Khan was getting too much for him haha.
deliberate attempt to stop him with it ... nah no chance. If you and I know that Kahn if you stop Khans feet you find his chin, then you can be 100% sure that Crawford knew too ! The low blow was a banker shot much like in football if you know a player is either a danger or carrying a knock you stick in a wee cheeky late tackle or something... not enough to have him taken off but enough to throw him off his game or slow him. It was deliberate IMO, it wasnt gonna change the outcome of the fight however it just speeded up the process. The fact that Crawford was very quick to say "it wasnt low" means he knew exactly what punch he was talking about, he knew what he was doing. Most of the time if it was accidental the fighter who threw it would ask what punch? or was it low? then get a replay. Straight away before the question was even finished being asked he stepped in with "wasnt low". Like I said wouldnt have changed the outcome, he wasnt constantly fouling. Oh and at the end of the day its a fight and rules get broken all the time during a fight
