People still think the punch didn't land?

Also goodness Carnera is shredded, freak of nature.

The more I watch it the more it looks like Carnera's forearm, not a punch, that struck Sharkey.

According to Boxrec Carnera weighed an even 260 for this fight, which is actually on the low end for him. There is of course a correlation between physique and fighting ability, but if you want an example of how loose that correlation is, Carnera is probably your guy.
(Though Butterbean, Fedor Emalianenko, Roy Nelson, Bob Sapp, and Julio Caesar Chavez sr. are up there as well.)

Oh yeah, another good example. He was pretty accomplished though, just not in proportion to how tough he looks.

A big problem is when the physique is built through weightlifting rather than boxing training. An impressive physique built through running, sparring and hitting the bag is much more deadly in the ring

Also genetics play a big role

That sounds plausible to me but I'm kind of agnostic on whether it's true. One thing that just has to be the case though is that different exercises will build structurally different kinds of muscle tissue that's good for different things.
If that weren't at least approximately true I don't see how you could possibly explain (for example) why bodybuilders and competitive weight lifters look so strikingly different.

Could somebody give a quick rundown on why this is supposed to be a fix, other than the presupposition that an oaf like Carnera could never possibly beat a first rate fighter like Sharkey? People get lucky, and first rate fighters lose to journeyman all the time.

You might want to do a bit of research in the future because Weaver never did weights.

    It was.
Straight out of WWE wrestling, a forearm smash.
Sharkey even bounces off the ropes to set it up, like pro wrestling.

If this is a fix then you might as well tell me wrestling is fake too !
    Say it aint so, Joe.

I certainly does look like an exaggerated reaction .I think he took a dive and nothing will convince me otherwise.

Sharkey interrupted his training to rush home and check on his children ,there were some fears for their safety.
Sharkey's camp, like Carnera's was full of mobsters for the fight.
Sharkey's manager Johnny Buckley had an unsavoury reputation and had gangland links.
Carnera's management had orchestrated his career through the benefit of fixed fights.
Carnera never remotely duplicated that uppercut shot ever again .
Sharkey claimed he saw a vision of Earnie Schaaf just before the ko h'mmm If he did ,maybe it was a guilty conscience that he and Buckley put Schaaf in the ring with Carnera when he should have been home convalescing.
Proving a fix is next to impossible, you go with your gut instinct and I've gone with mine.

Interesting litany of points, but I guess it would depend on how well substantiated/documented each of them is.

Why don't you challenge them and find out? They are all in several books.
