Well apart from Whyte actually turning down the AJ fight originally and now having obligations with ESPN. Usyk team have stated they want one or two fights before HW which is understandable. Also Usyk isn't even ranked in the top 15 at the moment so I don't believe the fight can be made even though it s expected if Usyk beats Takam that he will be made rank 1 and Mandatory for the WBO.
Usyk is the cruiserweight champion. As I'm sure you well know, any beltholder can ask the org he represents if he can have an immediate title shot in another division. Given that Usyk has titles in the same orgs as Joshua does, there would be no problem. All orgs include that allowance in their rules. We see champs from one division move up all the time and fight for a title immediately. It's nothing new. He's being ranked #1 by the WBO at heavyweight because he was the WBO cruiserweight champ and he's moving up. Not because Takam is highly rated by the WBO. Takam is rated #12 by the WBO. But he doesn't need to be ranked to get a shot. As a champ of all the orgs, he can request a heavyweight title fight from any of them. Usyk will be fighting Takam in an empty ballroom a week before the Joshua fight in New York. I'm sure he'd much rather fight Joshua in New York for the heavyweight belts than fight in an empty room in Maryland.
Also, this garbage about Usyk needing a couple fights at heavyweight before fighting Joshua is nonsense. Usyk was the Olympic heavyweight champion. He beat guys at heavyweight in the WSB who are currently ranked heavyweights. Usyk finished higher at heavyweight in the Olympics than Wilder did - he only won the Bronze at heavyweight. And Wilder's about to make his ninth heavyweight title defense. But the more polished and much more highly skilled 32-year-old Usyk NEEDS ONE OR TWO FIGHTS? If guys like Wilder and Mercer and Ibragimov, etc. can all manage to medal at heavyweight in the Olympics and win heavyweight belts as pros ... Hell if Middleweights and Light Heavyweights who medaled in the Olympics can win heavyweight world titles as pros ... I'm sure another Olympic Heavyweight Champion and current fighter of the year Usyk can handle heavyweights. Is slapping around Carlos Takam necessary? How much did Hearn offer Usyk for the Joshua fight? More than Kownacki, I hope, considering Hearn promotes Usyk, too. Maybe someone can ask Eddie Hearn how the calls went to the guys he's promotes when he offered them fights with Joshua? And maybe someone can ask Hearn how a cruiserweight (who Usyk beat a year or so ago) who is fighting on Usyk's undercard in May can somehow get the call to fight Joshua, but Usyk doesn't? People around here need to open their eyes.
Never let the truth get in the road of a good incoherent rant and thats what Dobblejub is only interested in doing.. Whyte did say he would fill in if the money was right but it won't be so he isn't in the equation.. Usyk doesn't even know if he is a heavyweight yet so going in and fighting arguably the best one would be pretty foolish given he will be getting the same shot for the same money with more time at some point.. Dubbajug doesn't factor any of this in when going off...
Whyte doesn't have any obligations to ESPN. I don't know where you got that. He's fighting Rivas on Sky Sports PPV and DAZN, and Eddie Hearn is promoting. Again, the only person who would be disappointed if Whyte didn't fight Rivas would be Hearn. I'm sure everyone else would rather see him fight Joshua for the titles.
How the hell does Usyk NOT KNOW HE's a HEAVYWEIGHT? He won the Olympic Heavyweight Gold Medal nearly a decade ago. He beat guys like Joe Joyce in the paid ranks in the WSB at heavyweight. He's been entering the ring as a pro on fight nights weighing 210+ pounds this whole decade. Enough of this complete and utter nonsense. Will he FINALLY be a heavyweight in a month when he fights Carlos Takam and gets a WBO #1 heavyweight ranking at the age of 32? Or will he still be unsure of himself? Or will he still need MORE TIME? I've had it with all you freaking morons who clearly don't know squat about boxing. If Deontay Wilder - the Olympic BRONZE MEDALIST at heavyweight in the Olympics - IS A HEAVYWEIGHT .. then so is Usyk, who won the GOLD. Just like Joe Frazier was a heavyweight. Just like Ray Mercer was a heavyweight. Just like all the Olympic Heavyweight gold medalists are heavyweights.
Right under the wire ... you win for dumbest post of the day. Yes, the guy who won the 2011 World Championships at Heavyweight, the guy who won the Olympic Gold medal in 2012 as a heavyweight, the guy who dominated the World Series of Boxing at heavyweight, the guy who cuts weight to beat everyone at 200 pounds, the guy who enters the ring heavier than the WBC Heavyweight champion does for his title defenses, the guy who is one of the pound-for-pound best in the sport ... the guy who can simply ask any org in boxing for an immediate shot at any heavyweight belt and get it ... doesn't know if he's a heavyweight yet. Congrats. That was truly dumb. Enjoy the rest of what I'm sure will be an equally dumb evening.
So, Usyk’s manager Egis Klimas claimed that Usyk needed 2-3 tune up fights at HW to adjust to the weight. Unless your suggesting that Hearn mind-controlled him or threatened him, I’m assuming that decision directly came from Usyk and his trainers. Joshua has claimed he wants to fight Usyk after He faces Wilder. So both fighters, and the promoter, have stated that they don’t want this fight, and this was at a time when it would have happened under a normal timeframe. The masterpiece of logical argumentation you employ- “I’m sure Usyk wouldn’t mind, I’m sure he’d much rather....” doesn’t work very well when all available evidence directly contradicts that assumption. There are other so many other reasons why this fight doesn’t make sense and why we shouldn’t be whining about why it’s not happening, cool as it would be. But it’s got no chance of happening in the first place if none of the required parties show any interest. What is worth whining about is when fighters who seemingly have excellent incentives also show no interest, like Ortiz. And the fact that Charr is even being considered to step in.
So Dibella saying Ortiz has a Wilder shot in his pocket, why doesn't he just take the AJ payday and then challenge Wilder whatever the outcome?? Oh yeh, becasue i'm sure Haymon and the PBC would return loyalty and give him his Wilder shot afterwards anyway right???? And then Luis himself has said he would "accept any amount of money" and would be ready, he certainly fought Widler with 5 weeks notice too, just another huge duck by a "top" heavyweight. Luis Ortizn't can fade into obscurity Respect for any man who's gonna grow a pair and step up now against the REAL boogeyman of the division
I love the logic that instead of having the Whyte fight in the UK where it generates the most money it should be a last minute replacement for America. I also like the logic that despite signing Usyk on a multiple fight deal to allow him to acclimatise to his new weight class and build him as a real threat to Joshua we should abandon that idea because a 40 year old fighter unlikely to see a payday of this magnitude again and who claims he really wants to challenge for the title in actual fact just turned the fight down. Amazing scenes.
