Joshua never fought a pressure fighter ? Ever here of Povetkin and the guy Wilder is fighting next ? The guy who actually is more likely to test Wilders chin which puts that fight as the top upset to happen .

 

Understand where you going with this thread, the skill of boxing isn't apparent in the heavyweights, but it is where the more casual observers begin their interest and so serves its purpose ie interest.
From there they may become more passionate and invest in the greater skills of the lower divisions, there's an awesome flyweight fight coming up thats gonna fly over the heads and radar of many.
I dont mind heavyweights they're the bread and butter of boxing, big smash boom, "OK fair enough, let me show you this Wangnet guy"

 

Heavyweight is the elite division. It's the open division.
The other divisions are handicap divisions for small guys who can't compete against all-comers.

The basketball equivalent of bantamweights would be a league for players 5 foot and under.

 

P4p is a measurement of skill levels while disregarding weight. Boxing is known as the sweet science. We appreciate skill here. Winning just because of size isn't a good measurement of skill or display of the sweet science.

 

HW is one of , if not the best division in boxing. Its the money division like WW was in the 00's.

Its not good just because of the top guys , its good because every layer from the bottom up is stacked with decent talent. Then you have great fight being produced all the time.
What other division produces great fights on a regular basis.

 

Except measuring skill while disregarding weight is not realistic. Do people really expect near 7ft behemoths to dance around the ring and exhibit the same kind of flash as guys from the lighter weight classes, the two are just totally incomparable.

P4P is like saying "If GGG was exactly the same boxer he is now but was a woman he would be the best female boxer of all time". You can't say that because if he was a woman his skills would not be the same, because of the physical differences. So saying a lightweight is more skilled than a heavyweight is the same thing

Except look at the movement of Fury and Usyk and a fat James toney who still had great defense. You can still spot outstanding skill even if they're big, and they can still move well if they're well coordinated. Look at Mike Tyson's head movement and shifting. If they have outstanding skill they have outstanding skill, regardless of size. Yes I give Tyson more credit for moving like he did at his weight compared to smaller person, but don't say heavyweights can't move lmao.

So I guess you're also saying if some of these heavyweights were lighter they would be Mayweathers? I guess if you don't box yourself you might not appreciate the technical side of boxing. And if you're also heavier you may say something like P4P doesn't matter lol.

Funny enough Mike Tyson says Lomachenko is the best fighter. No one denies heavyweights are best head to head, but we can still recognize skill regardless of weight unless you're a big guy trying to feel superior over lighter guys
