Let's have it right he sold those belts as well.I would add that if this was the case then why only mention it now instead of pretending everything is fine.
Question was GGG offering him less percentage of the purse? Or was he offering Sanchez less money in absolute terms.
If that is what it was then I dont see the problem here. GGG is a business owner. His business is his bout in the ring. If a businessman sees his profits rise is he obligated to pay his employees a higher wage now?
GGG is a money man first and foremost. over time this has become more and more evident. Maybe due to the amount of smoke that’s been blown up his ass he feels like he doesn’t need to worry about legacy, but at this rate history won’t look back on his career very kindly. He owes a lot to Sanchez who was invaluable in building his star with all the sparring stories, the OTT hype etc Sanchez is a PR expert as much as he’s a trainer. If these claims are true he has every right to be angry.
Sounds like Golovkin offered Sanchez $2m dollars over the course of the Dazn contract. 6 fights = $333,333 per fight...obviously that is GREAT money, and a lot more than trainers would make from fighters without insane contracts like that... I reckon Golovkins advisers told him to offer a flat fee rather than a % split due to the contract being so astronomical. I mean, it’s still a fair deal realistically, but I can see why Sanchez feels disrespected cos he assumed he was entitled to 10%.
With Golovkin and Gassiev gone, Sanchez only has no big names left. He's not gonna make more anywhere else. I understand his frustrations, but you don't air it out like this in public.
I really doubt this is actually like "you got paid $200k a fight, now it's reduced to $40k", but actually something like "your percentage before meant you got $200k, but now you get a lower percentage since I earn much more, which gives you $250k snd not $1.25m" Edit: someone already said the same while i was typing this up
If Golovkin makes 20 million in a fight why is the trainer thinking hes entitled to 2 million? Who is the man taking punches to the face here. Golovkin or Sanchez. If Golovkin offered Sanchez 2 million to train him for 6 fights then that is a fair deal. There is no mistreatment here.
Yep — Sanchez is extremely focused on the deal that Golovkin got from DAZN. I bet he stood to make a lot more, but was pissed because it wasn't the gargantuan increase that he had hoped for. Either way, he's gonna be much poorer moving forward.
I think Sanchez has forgot himself a bit here. Golovkin got a big contract from DAZN not him. Does he really think he's worth 10m over the next couple of years to Golovkin? If so then he's even more deluded than I thought. Anyway Triple Banker is clearly after as much money as he can get with the DAZN deal and so I'm not sure what Abel thought he was going to get here.
Because 10% is that standard for a typical trainer. Its clear as day Abel Sanchez was not a atypical trainer. Abel promoted the s**** out of GGG to the Mexicans in SoCal. Sanchez did a lot of PR work for GGG, and protected him from the press when GGG didn't know how to answer questions. I think its safe to say Sanchez did a hell of a lot more for GGG than just train him. Either way, this is interesting stuff, I think both an Abel and GGG are slimey pricks and they deserve each other.
