Sanchez is making it seem like he took some teenage kid and built him from the ground up. And that he made a massive, titanic impact on Golovkins life. Not true. Golovkin was 25 when he turned pro. And a very highly decorated and highly regarded amateur. He was ready to compete against the highest level guys from day 1. Taking nothing away from Abel, but stop acting like Golovkin was raised by Abel. Take for instance Tommy Hearns. A high school dropout. Who was discovered by Emmanuel Steward. He turned him from a light hitting nobody kid into a devastating puncher. And maybe the best 154 pounder in boxing history. Talk about changing someone's life. And took him all the way up to 175 pounds beating Virgil Hill. Or Freddie Roach who took a malnourished teenager who won the 112 pound title due to a lucky punch, with C level skills at best, and transformed him into the worlds greatest p4p fighter. And crafted a devastating in and out style that befuddled fighters all the way up to 150 pounds. Not to mention giving Pacquiao, an hyper aggressive fighter the self belief to walk through bombs from 3 of the greatest Featherweights in boxing history. And then have him just bang his gloves together asking for more. Perhaps Abel has overestimated Golovkins loyalty to him. They had a professional relationship. Not a father figure relationship. Sad to see this happen though. I've grown used to seeing Abel training with Golovkin and offering his insights.
This is true. Golovkin was ready to fight Sturm in his 8th professional fight but his shoddy promoters didn't want to risk Sturm losing so the fight was blocked.
I see people are claiming Abel SHOULD have gotten more due to 'promoting'... Abel being loud is NOT promoting.
All trainers get a flat fee after the fighter starts making a certain amount of money. That's just how it works.
Now things are getting a lil strange. Maybe Sanchez has changed with fame & fortune? I still think it was a dick move of GGG to low ball Sanchez lol.
We don't know how much Pacquiao pays Roach. They just negotiate between themselves and all we know is Roach is a paid a lot and hes very happy with it.
If Sanchez was the prime force behind Golovkin's success, he'll be fine, and shouldn't be so upset. I'm sure he'll just train up a bunch of kids to be like Golovkin, just like Peter Fury has a bunch of Tyson Fury's in the pipeline. It's going to be okay, Abel, believe in your skills!
