Rigoldi seems very likely to stop him in the championship rounds, IMO. He won't rise any higher than EBU champ, however. Gets hit way too much - and not just open to right hands like most southpaws, he's eating counter left hooks after backing Settoul into the ropes. Zero effective front-foot defense. He's winning simply because he's stronger/faster and has more gas in his tank and is thus bullying the Frenchman.
Commentators are repeating the phrase "molto stanco" with increasing frequency..that means "very tired" and could be in relation to either or both men, but probably referring to Settoul who is a dead man walking, very ragged, just shelling up and surviving at this point except for some ferocious bursts of counter offense while sitting his butt on the ropes.
Corner should think about stopping this; I see no reason for Settoul to answer the bell for an eleventh. Nothing about his cream-puff fists or Rigoldi's own impervious forward hustle (either not hurt whatsoever by the flush counters he's eating, or able to ignore them) indicates any possible of him scoring any dramatic KO in the six minutes remaining to him. His face is battered to hell, too. Would probably be a mercy for him if Rigoldi had KO power, as this wouldn't be such a prolonged beat-down..
To his credit Luca is gunning hard for the stoppage, applying nonstop pressure, throwing punches in bunches and landing most of them - just can't put this man away.
Rigoldi on his bike now, probably well aware of his insurmountable points lead, dancing around throwing pot shot right jabs. Settoul comes barging in, desperate to land a hail-Mary shot, but just ends up walking into counter left hands chopping into the already swollen bridge of his nose. Rigoldi spent half the round fleeing but probably still won it. 60-53 Rigoldi based on the half that I saw. (7th-12th) Even if he lost every round before I tuned in, he should be retaining his European title, especially in Lombardia.
Settoul is a decent guy, after the final bell rang he grabbed Rigodli around the waist, hoisting the champion up as if to say "this man just beat me senseless, respect.."
Yes it did, Rigoldi actually looked like he was going to stop him in the first few rounds, then he didn’t and it stayed very one sided. Sorry I hadn’t realized you had opened this thread lol the fight was rather dull IMO
