Great let him fight in America coz at least we can watch it on BT Sport or Sky Sports without paying PPV! They are starting the PR campaign saying how good Rivas is, when we all know with £4-6m at stake for Whyte to fight AJ or Wilder he aint gonna fight anyone too live. I mean the Lucas Browne victory now looks way less impressive. I do love him though and would love to see him in with Wilder "the desperate crackhead" as Dillian called him

 

The thing I don't like about Whyte, the fake beef that he tries to create. I know he probably needs it to get in the zone but he runs his mouth too much and seems a little unhinged, like he'd fight anywhere, anytime, just to prove himself and release his anger and frustration. His comments about Sam Sexton and Tyson Fury were totally unnecessary. He's had 5 relatively big fights,

Joshua - Shook him momentarily before getting brutally KO'd
Chisora 1 - Widely recognised as a very lucky points win
Browne - KO's a mess of a formerly half decent Heavyweight
Parker - Headbutts and clinches his way to a win but not before he was hanging on for life at the end
Chisora 2 - Despite Chisora being deducted points he was still losing on the cards before a late KO

He's not got a bad chin, he can mix it but ultimately I think he loses quite easily against any of the top three, if he's not careful the likes of Usyk, Joyce, Hunter etc. could be beating him too, he's really not half as good as Sky and some make him out to be.

I understand that not everyone will be a fan of Whyte not everyone sees the great display of spirit and attitude that he brings to the sport in taking risky fights

I also understand that twats will never be happy no matter what he achieves. How many cried for the Chisora rematch to settle the doubt? Public telling Whyte who to fight... he wins by KO and lo and behold it was a "lucky KO". He didn't need that fight.

All that matters is Whyte is making his money and making his mark in the division. He couldn't really care less what anyone else thinks and neither do I.

Meanwhile @CutThroatFade wanked over Hughie Fury night and day on this forum confident as **** that Hughie was the next Muhammad Ali... funny how that turned out. I said it then he would flop and he did.

10 years ago Whyte would be having wars with Rogan, Sprott, Williams, Skelton and Audley at British level. This era of heavies is trash.

I don't think it was a lucky KO, the only thing lucky about it was that had it not landed he was staring at a points defeat to a past his best Chisora who had been deducted points, a defeat that would have totally derailed his career that he'd managed to rebuild pretty well since getting absolutely obliterated by Joshua.

This is what I don't like about Dillian Whyte.

Sexton was actually grieving over the passing of his mother, some class Whyte has, eh? It's things like that that make him unappealing to many, it's not like he's a flashy fighter, an entertaining boxer, someone who gets people talking about what he does in the ring, so when you get a boxer who is mainly heart and determination they need to have a decent personality, and I'm sure that to family and friends Whyte is a nice guy, but he says and does things that are just totally uncalled for, ripping it out of Tyson Fury's mental health issues when he got the fight against Wilder was low.

I think he'll do enough to beat Rivas, then if he gets offered the Ortiz fight he should take it because Ortiz looks more beatable with every fight and right now he's still a big name to put on his record and a win that would make him almost impossible not to give a title shot to. But that's where it will end. If he fought Joshua it would be the same outcome. If he fought Wilder it would be an entertaining mess of a fight but by round 10 enough will have landed on him to finish him off. If he fought Tyson Fury he would be made to look silly, Fury would use every physical and technical advantage he has to easily outpoint him. If he doesn't fight any of them it would probably be Povetkin, Usyk or Pulev. All of them would be very difficult fights, I don't know if he'd be able to KO any of them and all three would outbox him.

He's done very well out of the sport to have gotten where he is, he's made some decent money and if he's not stupid he can retire in a couple of years and be made for life. He's just not really my cup of tea, I don't dislike him, I just don't really get excited when I see his name mentioned.

 

I can't comment on the sexton thing because I didn't really read up on that at the time so I don't know the in's and out's.

I agree with a lot of what you said and I have already stated that he would not be everyone's cup of tea, and fair play you give him credit for some things, just like I give credit to Wilder and Fury who are not my cup of tea.

I authored a thread a while back commending Whyte on his journey in the sport, where I made it crystal clear that I do not see him as a flashy, slick, highly skilled boxer that will be remember for years to come... but that I am a fan because of his underdog story... that he still continues to hold on to because people continue to count him out against various opposition including Joshua.

Whyte may be an underdog for quite a while yet, but I know what I see in him, and he has got the qualities and attributes to cause upsets just like he has been doing... and people call it luck... I call it close call but I knew he would always win.


So we'll see where he ends up in 5 years, I am saying he will go far - further than Gorman/Hughie ever will.... and that my fanboyism stems from his attitude to the sport... staying dedicated, not giving up, improving himself, proving the doubters/haters wrong, this is something I have lived through personally always being doubted by everyone in my life from teachers, to geeks, to sports jocks, to bullies and I proved them all wrong. I relate to Whyte. But I under NO ILLUSION that he is a some boxing prodigy, or even a decent boxer at that.... he ain't but he makes do with what he's got.
