Well you walked right into that didn’t You?

“he wasnt an active fighter between his last fight and when he came back after realizing how financially screwed he was.”

From the “one fight” from 1948-1950 joe fought another 19 times in 1948 (including bouts against Arturo Godoy, Billy Conn and Jimmy Bivins that were certainly competitive), 36 times in 1949 ( including bouts with Curtis Shepherd, Elmer Ray, olimio Agramante, bill Gilliam, Nino Valdes, Rex Layne, Tommy Flynn, Johnny Shkor and Roscoe Tolles) and 24 times in 1950 (including bouts with Pat Valentino, Clarence Henry, Nino Valdes, Henry Hall) so that count becomes 1+79 fights for the period dosnt it? You can dismiss them as mere exhibitions but guys were knocked out by Joe Louis here. Some were 10 rounders with News paper decisions. Some Real fights, often with no head guards but no official decision.

This certainly kept Joe Louis muscles ticking over. News Flash! 19 fights in 1948, 36 times in 1949, 24 times in 1950, 9 times in 1951. Where was this Muscle withering lay-off?

Where was Joe Louis’s long lay off? He was in the ring 88 times between “retirement” and facing Marciano!

And here is one of the “exhibitions”...

Those fights have as much relevance as Foreman's 5 men in Toronto lmfao.

Was Louis active though, or was he wasting away? Yes or no?

He was in the ring with contenders like Shkor, Ray, Rex Layne, Nino Valdes, Jimmy Bivins, Clarence Henry, Pat Valentino, Tommy Flynn etc etc.

I believe Valentino was also retired at this point.

That changes everything. They both withered away together...

If they ran at full speed on a treadmill for 6 rounds worth of time and then started the fight, I like Rocky's chances.

If you are claiming Louis was anything but a shell of his former self you are going against the prevailing contemporary opinion of those who had watched Louis' career unfold firsthand. Not that that is going to stop you from making such proclamations.

Was he a professional active fighter yes or no?

Was he doing seminars and doing cheesy ads for the army yes or no?

Wasnt he playing golf and lounging around?

That you insist on making false equivalencies and refusing to admit when you have the facts wrong are why people cant stand talking to you. It has nothing to do with the strength of your arguments. All these idiotic talking pounts have been beaten to death dozens of times for years yet you keep bringing them up.

You´d gather that inconsistency, do you?

Anyway, neither Rocky nor Louis (regardless of his bodyfat-%) where anywhere near the strength level in hindsight of clinching, pushing or wrestling of a Foreman.
This debate is an absolute waste of time and energy.
If a prime Foreman, who got 20 and 40 pounds of weight advantage over Louis and Rocky, choose to move any of them, he could easily do so. I´ll remind you, Joe Frazier got Louis weight and was 20 pounds heavier than Rocky.

How silly is this topic gonna get??
If Foreman decided to shift that Rock, he´d manhandle him like a rag doll.

Yeah, he was a shell of his former self. But that shell was still better than a lot of contenders in most decades. And that shell was still 213lb and physically as strong as most other world class 213 pounders.

Not George Foreman, but still a legit 213 pound contender.

Apparently Louis fighting exhibitions and doing corny army ads and playing golf is exactly the same as Hopkins, Holyfield, Wladmir, and other boxers being consistently active fighting top contenders and never taking long layoffs like Louis did.

Yes he got paid for those fights. Many were real fights fought with bigger gloves which saved on sanctioning fees. Proper knockouts. Some had news paper decisions, like the Shkor fights. This is all well documented...

    Watch the Valentino fight.

The guy was not withering away on some muscle reducing retirement.
