i thought he looked pretty good and pretty good opponent for only 11 pro fights not a total scrub...but i noticed dubois needs to move his head more / he got tagged a copuple times and walked right threw them (so it looks like his chin is ok so far )..i f i was warren i wouldnt put him with joyce till about dubois 14 th pro fite = lennox lewis didnt fight anybody until he beat gary mason in his 15th pro fite ....i also didnt see any right hands to the body only left hooks ,,,,but a nice postive he threw a nice right uppercut on the inside that wobbled the ghanan....so for 11 pro fights i give him a b on tonites performance
    discuss??

A good solid B fight. He overcame resistance which is always a good thing to see for the heavyweight up and comers. But there is more work to be done and the diamond is hardly polished at this stage. We will see in the next two years if the diamond is even capable of being polished or to what extent it can be polished.

Still a tightrope act, as it always is for the up and comers. They have to be very concerned with taking him to the deeper waters right now. He sure does not need to try jumping from the C level fighters to the A grades just yet.

Essentially, I wasn't at all impressed by him and it reinforced everything I previously thought about him. If Dubois is getting tagged and hurt by Lartey, Joyce will walk Dubois down and iron him out.

Based on last night's performance, I expect Warren will look to steer Dubois away from a showdown with Joyce.

i did not watch it live i watched it this morning

reading on here the posters about the fight i was expecting dubois to be in against a fat old man who could not fight and dubois was so bad he will never be more than british level.

not sure if it was bias or people were expecting more of dubois

    dubois is what he is
a very big/solid 21 year old heavy who is learning his trade

his opponent the ghanian was fit /in shape/had heart and was trying to win not just fall down at the first punch and was also wise enough to spoil /wrestle/hold on when he got tagged

also threw the kitchen sink trying to win in the 3rd and caught dubois bang on the nose .

dubois is raw / he is not polished when throwing combos

they are amatuerish and not tight and sharp/and precise
from range he is nice and correct
not fast but average speed /but he does have obvious raw power

but at 21 he will relax when he gets more mature / will learn to shorten the combos and place them more than swing for the hills

his power is obvious /he has a good jab/ and good fundamentsals

he is not top ten / but IMO he will be / he will never be polished boxer puncher but he has size /power and is in shape and will be a danger to all heavys.

most of all he has time on his side to learn and progress.

IMO dubois will ko joyce i favour dubois 65/35 to win i think he has the power tand technique to ko joyce who will walk onto one while trying to get his own shots off.

whereas i think joyce will need to land a lot more clean shots on dubois to get him out of there

A good fight in all honesty . Dubois was against someone who came ready to fight and was no push-over . Like Zadrak and Sean previously commented it's early days yet for Dubois but he is doing what is needed to be done and Lartey was a game opponent he gave a hell of a lot back and did not make it easy .

Interesting to see what comes next for Dubois and someone to look out for . HW division needs solid up-comers for the future .

Nobody really knows how good Lartey is. Gorman would've out-boxed him but probably wouldn't have blown him away in 4 rounds. Without power and a good work rate , a guy like Lartey can be a concern.
But Dubois placed nice uppercuts on Lartey from mid-range that had him holding on for dear life and battered him in close with short compact hooks.
Lartey showed awkward tactics like faking injury to set up an ambush attack. Dubois handled the surprise well whereas a guy like Pricey would've probably got knocked out.

At 11 fights he's not too bad. Every fight is a learning experience and he has about 9 years ahead of him before he enters the prime years for a HW.

I won't be surprised at all if he takes Joyce out. If Joyce gets past the ramrod jab he has deadly 3, 4 and 5s to contend with. With his wide open defense it could be target practice for Dubois.

Felt he looked a bit more relaxed than he usually does, not so desperate to get his opponent out of there Took his time, had a look. Obviously a bit raw, but he's still young and has time to iron out his flaws and he has power no doubt. Him and Joyce is a genuine 50/50. Joyce is obviously more seasoned and has a formidable work rate, but on the other hand, he is slow as hell and looked ridiculously open against Stiverne I remember thinking that he'd better have a great chin if he wants to carry that style off at a higher level and I'm not sure he does - he got dropped and stopped inside a round a couple of times as an amateur. I would probably say either Dubois early or Joyce late.

DD beats Joyce in my opinion. Joyce has absolutely no hand speed I think DD gets the stoppage

I thought he looked good against a guy who showed some resistance. He took a few flush shots and seemed to walk right thru them. He’s very raw, but he’s young. He’s a strong kid and I’d pick him over Joyce. I like Joyce but think he gets way over hyped on this forum.

Think he needs alot of work in regards to head movement. . But the potential is there . Needs a bit of camerawork if he wants to become a star as he is pretty boring to listen to

On a side note I tjink he wud smash Joyce... I really dunno what people see in him.. I know he just beat an old ass stiverne but I always find myself watching him and thinking.. How can a man be that slow

I think he has some decent qualities, I liked that he took a few punches and he showed a bit of fire, but I don't think he should step up. He is wide open for a counter and will get knocked out by anyone decent at this point I think. He needs to lay low and take a couple of years, calls for big fights would be a concern. Joyce is too soon. the guy is only 21, he got a few years.

He's still clearly a work in progress at the moment based on that fight. He got into exchanges he didn't need too and we saw him take some shots he shouldn't have got hit with, which shows when he does step up in class he'll need to work on his defence. It's one thing having poor defence when you can back up every fighter you faced at this level but when he does step up and he has guys trying to push him back and guys who can force him to box on the back foot he might suddenly have some big holes exposed in his game.

Joshua made similar mistakes early on, then Whyte wobbled him and he started to box more conservatively. Wlad dropped him and again he made adjustments to his style in subsequent performances.

Dubois had his first remotely competitive fight as a pro, question is what has he learned from that? Can he make adjustments like Joshua did or will he just repeat the same mistakes until eventually someone beats him.
