If In place of the above ,in Haglers era ,we had Toney ,Nunn and McCallum all wanting a crack at his title ? Does this alter Marvin s title reign ?
The interesting thing is Nunn's reach was 77.. Hagler's was 75. Hagler was southpaw himself. Nunn had the style to beat Marvin, but getting it done is a different thing altogether, especially when he was active.
I was thinking ,put McCallum in Duran's spot against Marv .Toney in Hearns place and Nunn in place of SRL. See how that plays out ?
I think Marvin would be too big for Mike and win by late TKO. I think Toney gets stopped, Toney at middleweight was still rather inexperienced, and he had that bad fight with Tiberi. Nunn in place of Leonard? 1988 Nunn? Who boxed? That could be a problem against the rusty Hagler of 1987. Probably Nunn in that situation. The Hagler which Ray fought was not the Hagler who Hearns fought, simply because of rust not age.
Id gotten something similar George ..But I've got Marvin been taken to a close decision loss by MM .I don't think he'd be good enough to beat Hagler at that point in his career but he'd put on a good effort. The Toney fight ,I agree ,would be close as well but Marvelous takes it .By the Nunn fight he's seen better days and in with a guy which could give most ATG s a test .Nunn puts on a boxing display and gets a clear cut decision to end Marvin's reign .
Yep 88 ,Nunn against 87 Hagler .Would probably see MN at his best .Marvin s going to struggle so much at this stage imo
