You could argue that Donaire lost most of his biggest fights albeit at a higher weight class (except for Rigo)...

    Rigondeaux (got schooled)
    Magdaleno
    Frampton
    Walters

I will preface this by saying I'm an unabashed Donaire fan. But, to me he is absolutely an all timer. He checks every box...world titles in 4 divisions, 8 world titles overall, 15-3(10 KO's) in world title fights, upset of the year in 2007 when he stopped an unbeaten(28-0) Darchinyan, long career and still elite late in his career, and one of the best left hooks in the history of boxing. To top it all off, he is one of the classiest fighters ever to live. Nonito did it the right way his whole career. Absolutely, positively an all-time great fighter.

You seem to be putting more weight behind his losses.
A KO 1 loss would´t do much for his legacy. The dude is a 36 year old bantamweight.

Wins over Vic Darchinyan, Moruti Mthalane, Hernan Marquez, Volodymyr Sydorenko, Fernando Montiel, Omar Narvaez, Toshiaki Nishioka and Jorge Arce.
Clearly among the greatest smaller fighters of the modern era. And he was among the P4P and secured the 2012 Fighter of the year honors.

Guys calm down with the ATG for every fighter that wins a couple titles in different weight classes.

NO WAY IS HE ANYWHERE NEAR ANY ATG fighter. He's had a few great performances but the ATG lable needs to be put away.

Very few are truly ATG, very few in every era. My criteria for ATG status is way different than most on here, as is my criteria for being an elite fighter

These lables lost all their meaning and relevance on here

Not just no, no ****ing way is he even close, in my opinion. Depends what one's criteria is, of course it's all subjective and that's the reason the thread starter thinks he's an ATG while I couldn't make any case for him

5 out of 7 voted he was all time great? How is this possible. People are rushing to judgement now. I always said if you are an all time great you have to beat a few all time great fighters or have a stellar career. His is good , but atg level.

The problem here is that boxing history is so rich with great fighters. If boxing was as young as MMA, Donaire would be among the greats. A legend.

But it's extremely hard to compete with the resumes of past fighters.
Donaire truly is a modern great, but I myself am not sure if he stands with those from the past.

He's beaten many pretty good fighters but i feel like there was something missing. He's definitely a modern great, first ballot hall of famer but not an atg.
