For anyone interested. This was the original title of the thread. Before I fixed it. Most Active Overrated fighter of this Generation ?
How can Wilder be the most overrated fighter when no one really rates him that high? Most people would agree Wilder has poor boxing skills/technique, but massive power which can bail him out of fights. If anything Wilder would be be one of the more underrated fighters of this generation.
If we're going by the pure definition of overrated, it's Spence right now. I like Spence and he's a beast....but he also got a P4P ranking after his first title fight and still hasn't faced the other top welters in the division. If he gets the fights I think he'll prove he's the goods, but it's laughable he's ranked 5 overall right now ahead of someone like Inoue, who is also dominant with a better record. The resume doesn't support him being ranked over other top guys he's rated over, which is the definition of overrated. This is also a perfect example of overrated not being a measure of quality. Rating is a product of fans and media.
By that logic Canelo doesnt count either. Canelo has problems with slick fighters, as well. Marquez imo has 2 wins over Pacquiao (4th and 3rd) and has a win over Barrera, and two wins over Diaz. Two wins over Pacquiao > Two wins over GGG Even if both can be argued
Yeah and the way Hopkins handpicked guys and also Floyd. The difference between the top guys and the contenders is so large now, that if someone like Floyd or Bernard can avoid the top guys they an keep winning. It is a smoke and mirrors kind of thing.
I understand what your saying , but being a champion with no decent fights on his record (sorry a 3 year inactive Fury and over-hyped Ortiz don't count for much) with so many decent HW's is pretty embarrassing . Every other boxer in the list has at least achieved something or has some reason to brag about them , or fought some genuine tough fights .
You don't seem to understand the premise of this thread. Wilder has been critiqued and belittled like that all throughout his career. Nobody speaks good of him or rates him highly , therefore he cannot be the most overrated fighter of the generation. The honest answer is Golovkin since his greatness has been heralded by the media and on boxing forums since he made his HBO debut. There's not a single man born from his mother who ever called Wilder a great. The only reason people say Wilder is because of biased nut huggery and EE bias. Nobody has been overrated like Golovkin has , especially not Wilder ffs
GGG is good but became incredibly overrated by disenfranchised and lonely single MAGA hat-toting white guys. However, I would choose Thurman if he were listed in the poll.
