I think he face as hard or harder punchers than those two. And he wasn't KO'd until he was past 40. He was 44 when Briggs stopped him and that was weird. Briggs was holding him sideways against the ropes and hooking him to the face. And at that age guys often just decide it isn't worth the risk and damage to continue.

It is a good list. I have some doubts about Vitali because his chin was not proven often

That's why I couldn't decide whether to hold him higher than Others.

Damn tough Chin ,certainly one of the hardest to dent .It always amazed how he had to come from behind to ko Damiani and Morrison and be given a boxing lesson by old Holmes ,yet give peak Lewis and Holyfield all they could handle ??

He had a great chin, but who had the best is impossible to answer. He fought in an era of big heavies and walked down Morrison for the win, and walked through Lewis nearly winning, and an old Witherspoon for the win. Wasn’t til Wlad really bombed him and he was already 40 that he could be stopped.
Great chin. But McCall also had great chin and so did Tua.

Vitali's chin was clear as day not on McCalls level because Vitali clung onto Lewis for dear life when he hit him with his uppercut whereas McCall just laughed when he got hit with that same shot

Holyfield put iron-chinned Mercer down with a good left hook.

Indeed. A single hook late in the fight. How does that measure up to the 3 hooks Holyfield landed on Tyson in the 11th?

I would go with McCall, Cobb, Chuvalo, Tyson, Mercer, Tua, Ali, Foreman, Holyfield and the journeyman from the 90's who fought them all but never hit the canvas.

Even old Holmes was a very formidable heavyweight. His only really bad fight was against prime Tyson.

In my opinion Tex Cobb had the best heavyweight chin of all time.

It was more proven than Bowes chin was.

Bowe skipped every big puncher of his generation. No Lewis, Tyson, Bruno, Mercer, McCall, Moorer, Foreman, Witherspoon, Alex Stewart etc.

He was also floored and hurt by the much smaller moderate punching Holyfield and stunned by Herbie Hide. I’ve often wondered if there was a reason he was steered clear of big men with legitimate power especially in light of what (the again only decent punching) Golota did to him.

Marion Wilson’s chin has to be considered amongst the best in heavyweight history as well.

Was only a journeyman at best but was never stopped and as far as l know never floored despite facing a who’s who of big punchers.
