Is Canelo an ATG

Years? Canelo won the title in November 2015. Was he supposed to fight him in December 2015? They fought in 2017, 2018 and they'll likely fight again this year.

 

Lot of "past prime" talk there. It's almost like Zale and Graziano and Fullmer and Robinson didn't all fight each other when they were all in their primes ... but it doesn't matter when discussing how great they are.

 

I don't think you can technically duck someone who you fight two or three times.

I think it's just a case of a couple posters wanting something NOW and having to wait 12 months for it.

Canelo won the title in November 2015. He and Golovkin fought in 2017 and 2018. You guys are complaining they didn't fight in 2016, so their fights in 2017, 2018 and 2019 (if it happens) don't count.

Wilder won the WBC title in 2015. If Wilder and Joshua had fought in 2017, 2018 and could possibly fight a third time in 2019 ... how many of you would be saying the fights don't count because they didn't start in 2016?

Without going into great detail, yes, I think he’ll be considered a great when he retires. The controversy surrounding his ggg fights is still a bit raw, but Canelo is still quite young amazingly, considering his resume, and in time I’m sure that won’t be such a factor.

 

I respect him for looking to take on the best. I think however that if he was anyone other than a young marketable redheaded Mexican he'd have a few more L's on his record, at least.

 

No, you can't. If you fight someone TWICE, you aren't ducking them. You're fighting them twice.

You just wanted them to fight in 2016. But they've fought every year since then.
