This literally just happend to me at work with the apprentice. 'Have you seen who Ajs fighting next?'
I swear Hearn said in an interview recently that looking in shape is quite important when selling a fight to the ‘casual’ fan lol
It's an acceptable replacement at short notice to be fair. But I have zero excitement for this fight. Joshua KOs him when he chooses to.
This will be a "fake fight", I guarantee you if he wanted to AJ could blast him out in 30 seconds. Instead he will carry him to round 7 making it look competitive. Then Hearn and the casuals will say "cracking fight, Ruiz was right in the fight before the stoppage!"
I really don’t see how this would be a good plan. If anything the casuals will say ‘how on Earth was a fat bloke competitive with AJ, he must not be that good’ It’s in everyone’s best interest that he blasts Ruiz jr out in 30 seconds if he’s capable of doing it.
I saw him on the Russian punch bag (dimitrenko) the other week and he is pretty good for a fat lad, according to boxrec he is 6 foot 2 which I find hard to believe. I don't see him giving Joshua much to worry about although he has the kind of pumpkin head that takes a good punch.
Initially I was excited when this card was announced; thought we’d have a US vs UK bonanza with competitive 50/50 fights. We are now left with Ruiz Jr on 5 weeks notice as a main event and only Khalid Yafai and Katie Taylor with opponent. Shocking
Ahhh yes the good old PPV. If people actually buy this then they absolutely need there heads testing. Some fights you can say, yeah ok that is going to be a cracking fight so I might just buy it "Me excluded" but come on no way on earth is this worthy of PPV. Sheeple, they are everywhere sadly.
He looked about a foot shorter than the Russian in his last fight. It's probably because he's so round it makes him look short.
The excuses have started already lmao, the "fat boy" is gonna cause Joshua some problems no doubt. Go watch some of his fights before you judge him. He ain't turning up to look pretty, he turning up to FIGHT.
