I think Patterson would have the tools to win, but his chin vs Dempsey's punching power makes me have to favor Dempsey.

George Chuvalo this could actually be pretty competitive. Dempsey was similar to Tyson in that he tried to get a blow out early finish from the opening bell. This could actually backfire if he cant get the ref to stop it because no way he flattens him when so many other big punchers failed to KO the Canadian. Over 12 if he blows his load, his toughnes could help him survive and take an ugly split decision due to his earlier efforts. Over 15 Chuvalo's body work oays off and he wins by upset KO late. Both these scenarios are less likely but not impossible. 6/10 Dempsey either forces a stoppage around the 6th or fights smart realizing how durable his opponent is and wins by UD.

1967 Cleveland Williams similar to the firpo fight, but in reverse. He walks into a bomb underestimating Williams and is nearly out, needing to rise to the canvas and shake it off. He rallies and it becomes a beautiful display of savagery with both men looking like they stuck their face in a blender. No defense or technique whatsoever. Both men winded and leaning on each other in the 2nd round. Dempsey takes him out with a hook to the body then collapses. Both men are taken out on stretchers.

Ernie Terrel a very frustrating fight. Terrel befuddles and annoys Dempsey with his spoiling tactics and takes the decision.

That Williams was very diminished, it wasn't the same Williams that Liston fought in 1959-60. You sure about this?

Patterson I could see winning, but his chin makes me favor Dempsey. A 67 version of Williams IMO was too diminished so I can't see anything other than an early Dempsey blow out. Terrell, maybe.

The Patterson one is interesting. His supposed weak chin seemed to have strengthened for a period there. And the real point is that he is faster than Dempsey and probably hit about as hard. A little cuteness went a long ways against Dempsey. He did better against oafs like old Willard and Firpo than even Gibbons or obviously Tunney. Patterson had more than a little cuteness.
