Well I wasn’t sure how long you would be gone for. Somebody said 2 weeks and I didn’t have any ideas, and didn’t want to pick fights that might be interesting to me but no one else... If I picked my own I would Choose Murata vs Pintor & Chandler I and get feedback from hardly anyone lol. So I just wanted some fresh ideas
Barrera v Morales trilogy - all three fights very close and at least 2 of them contentious decisions and 2 of them FOTY winners.
Anyone interested in participating in this series if we resurrect it? Thinking we should do a total of 2 fights per week (and that includes any heavyweight FOTWs). Thoughts?
I have been frequenting another boxing site, since this one seems to be getting toxic and going down hill more and more each day. But I have still been popping in here a couple of times a day and posting all of my cards in the what fights have you watched/scored today. But if you start it up, I will probably be in as that is my highlight of this forum anymore. If not I will just keep scoring on my own...I guess it depends on the interest, but I do miss them.
Already been done but these threads never close so feel free to post your card or start a discussion about them in there. https://www.boxingforum24.com/threa...e-week-5-floyd-patterson-doubleheader.623137/
The reason I stopped posting in the FOTW thread was because there ended up being about 4 or 5 fights a week to watch and I just didn't have the time to watch em all. I know I didn't have to watch them all but because I was one of the few regular posters I started to feel obligated to keep up and life was hectic so I ended up dropping out altogether. There were also a few fights that I just wasn't that excited about sitting through so that played a part. I think 2 fights max a week (one heavy, one non-heavy) is a good balance. I'll try to watch at least one although if I miss a fight or a week here or there, I apologize in advance. I'm sure we're all busy outside this forum and I post here for the fun of it so if it starts feeling like an obligation, I'm less likely to engage. Anyway, I'd like to see it back but would stress quality over quantity to get the biggest engagement from everyone. Some of the threads got a lot of feedback but they tended to be the bigger and more controversial fights (Duran-Leonard 1, Leonard-Hagler). Inevitable I guess. Can't be that surprised or disappointed if Jung Koo Chang doesn't get as much of a response as Mike Tyson. But massive respect goes to you and @PhillyPhan69 for keeping it going and coming up with the threads each week. The only other thing I have to add is the focus was always on rescoring which was interesting but might limit the appeal for some people. I thought there was never any harm in having a few more fights that finished early or even a couple of short ones for the more time-strapped. Anyway, I'm in (based on the above caveats)!
I think some shorter fights would be a good idea. It's good to watch and score a 15 rounder now and then, but fights that end in KOs after a few rounds are also worth re-watching and analyzing.
Good suggestions. I'll try to pull something together today. I fell off too this year, when some things in my life got a little hectic. Shout out to @Pat M and @PhillyPhan69, who were the only posters who consistently scored and commented on all of the fights.
As a side note I would suggest maybe calling it fight or fighters of the week....example pick a fight (example SRL vs Duran) where scorecards can be rendered as well as preflight build up post fight review ...but since it seems the majority of our forum does not like to frequently watch/score fights, it is as much about discussing the 2 boxers strengths and weaknesses as well as scoring the particular fight. Just some thoughts about weeks we did not get a lot of input. Some might be more comfortable braking down some stylistic components from the fighters to give us some more dialogue? Not sure if it will work or what it might morph into, but it might engage some who are not into the rbr scoring as much as some like me.
