Lineal Boxing Champion

There are instances where the lineal champ retires undefeated giving no opportunity to take the title inside the ring, therefore a new lineage is forged between the next in line, #1 ranked vs #2 ranked.

Wlad and Chagaev were ranked at the top of the HW division, hence Wlad starting a new lineage.

I think the lineal champ holds more weight in certain instances than some paper titles.

 

Pretty simple when you think about it huh.

 

It was the #1 vs #3 in this case, but that doesn't matter much. It's just what was decided in a boardroom just like when an alphabet organisation decides who decides get to fight for their vacant belt.

Which brings me to my point that there is no pure lineage as so many act like there is. It follows the exact structure of an alphabet belt as the man who beat the LBC champion, who beat the LBC, that had been vacated and fought for by #1 vs #3, that had beat the LBC champ, who beat the LBC champ that beat the LBC champ that had retired and vacated but came back to beat the #6, who beat the LBC champ that had beaten a guy for another vacant LBC championship.

 

Ok in that case the op has a point . If you believe in linearity , then Fury gave it up when he failed the drugs test and relinquished all his belts and retired . The rules on lineal are not defined very well , and leave too much too scrutiny . If Lewis came for an exhibition or something or Wlad came back then on a technical basis Wlad was the lineal champ because Fury refused to rematch hence losing his belts back in 2015 , or Lewis since his lineal status was never taken from him . That makes the AJ V Klitschko fight also a lineal fight since Fury left and never announced his return .

 

Joshua fans can't handle the fact that he's not lineal & is a long way from landing a fight with the guy who is.

They make up arguments that there's no such thing as lineal or even more ridiculously, that Joshua has already attained that status.

Please.

It's very simple. Fury is lineal champion & to become lineal champion Joshua needs to fight and beat him in a boxing ring.

You know, like Wilder tried and failed to do.

There's only one Heavyweight champion of the World at any one time and that's the Lineal H/W champ. Beware of imposters bearing bling.
