If I had to guess I'd say so. He was still a game journeyman with no signs of a glass jaw well into the 2010s. Although I don't want to see it tested. It would be a shame if his legendary chin only cracked due to age.
I think the issue in this case is that he has such a great chin. If he fights someone decent chances are he's going to take too much punishment without his brain shutting off to protect itself like what's supposed to happen.
Maybe he should take on the Big Stiff Idiot. Survive the first 2 rounds and he will have a fight against AJ in the pipeline.
96th rated middleweight - Diego Diaz Gallardo (Argentina) - just lost a 4-rounder 96th rated welterweight - in Duk Seo (South Korea) - lost to a guy last year who was 1-3-1 Proves how weak these middleweight and welterweight eras are.
The entire card is a freakshow. Breidis Prescott is fighting some prospect who seems to be a puncher. Albert Mensah is also fighting some prospect. Oliver McCall is at least fighting a 48 year old. Oh, and 48 year old Ray Austin is facing Ivan ****ing Dychko How the **** did that get sanctioned? (nevermind, it's Florida) Other old farts on the card as well, facing up and coming guys.
Well, if he is in good health and in shape, why not? He is doing an 8 rounder against a 48 year old. I don't see anything bad in that, as long as they both stick to that "level".
Andy Ruiz fought Ray Austin a couple years ago and couldn't stop him. Austin quit on his stool after four rounds claiming an injured hand.
